A Study On The Duration Of Transnasal Nebulization Steroid Therapy After Endoscopic Sinus Surgery In Chronic Rhinosinusitis With Nasal Polyps

Objective:To explore the effect of the duration of budesonide transnasal nebulization on the recovery after endoscopic sinus surgery in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps.Methods:In this prospective study,60 patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps who had underwent endoscopic sinus surgery were randomly divided into two groups.Group A(experimental group)was treated with budesonide suspension added into the compression atomizer,1 mg/2 ml each time,QD,and group B(control group)was treated with budesonide nasal spray,each side of which was injected with 64 ug,BID.All patients were treated for 12 weeks.The VAS scores and Lund-Mackay scores were evaluated before the endoscopic sinus surgery.The subjective VAS scores and objective endoscopic Lund-Kennedy scores were evaluated at 4 weeks,8 weeks and 12 weeks after operation.The intra-group and inter-group differences at each follow-up time point were analyzed and compared.Results:VAS scores and Lund-Kennedy scores show as follows: At the same follow-up time point,there were statistically significant differences between the two groups at 4 weeks and 8 weeks after surgery(P<0.05),there was no significant difference between the two groups at 12 weeks(P>0.05).Comparisons of different follow-up time points in group A:there was statistically significant difference between 4 weeks and 8 weeks after surgery(P<0.05),there was statistically significant difference between 4 weeks and 12 weeks after surgery(P<0.05),There was no significant difference between 8 weeks and 12 weeks after surgery(P>0.05).Conclusion:The optimai duration of postoperative treatment of budesonide transnasal nebulization in Patients with chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps who had underwent endoscopic sinus surgery may be 8 weeks.Budesonide transnasal nebulization is recommended within 8 weeks after surgery,and conventional budesonide nasal spray is recommended after 8 weeks.
