Objective(s): The basic situation, clinical features, possible pathogenic factors, diagnosis, and histopathological features of patients with multiple basal cell carcinoma were analyzed in an attempt to explore the different biological characteristics of multiple basal cell carcinoma and single basal cell carcinoma. To find the pathogenesis, deepen the clinician’s cognition of multiple basal cell carcinoma, and provide certain guidance for improving the accuracy of early diagnosis, standardized treatment as soon as possible and improving the prognosis. Methods: A retrospective analysis was made on the case data of inpatients from all departments of our hospital in the past 9 years, and 16 cases of multiple basal cell carcinoma of the skin were screened out with pathological tissue sections. The year of treatment, course of disease, evolution of disease, preliminary diagnosis, age, sex, occupation, manifestations of skin lesions, number of skin lesions, site of skin lesions, sunscreen habits, working environment,co-morbidification,family history and histopathological types were counted.SPSS 25.0 statistical software was used for data analysis, and counting data were described by frequency or percentage(%).The measurement data were tested for normality, and the consistency was described by mean ± standard deviation( ±s),while the inconsistency was expressed by median(interquartile distance)M(P25,P75).Correlation analysis was performed on some measurement data. Results: 1.Among the 16 cases that met the requirements, there were more females than males, with 6 males(37.50%)and 10 females(62.50%),and the average age of seeing a doctor was(66.4±13.8)years old.2.There were 50 lesions in total, mainly located in the exposed part(44 in the exposed part(88.00%)and 6 in the non-exposed part(12.00%).The number of lesions was positively correlated with the course of disease(r=0.535,P < 0.05).3.There were 7 cases(43.75%)with outdoor working environment and 9 cases(56.25%)with indoor working environment.2 cases(12.50%)had the habit of sunscreen, and 14 cases(87.50%)had no habit of sunscreen.4.There were 2 cases(12.50%)complicated with other skin malignancies or precancerous lesions, and 2 cases(12.5%)complicated with other organs malignancies.Family history of cutaneous malignancy was 2 cases(12.5%).5.The most lesions were black papules(22(44.00%)and black brown plaques(22(44.00%).6.Multiple lesions occurred simultaneously in 6 cases(37.5%);Ten cases(62.5%)gradually emerged.7.The correct rate of initial diagnosis of lesions is 70.0%;The accuracy rate of initial diagnosis was 37.5%.8.Nodular basal cell carcinoma(32 cases)had the most pathological tissue types(64.00%).Conclusion(s):1.The incidence of multiple basal cell carcinoma is on the rise, and females are more than males.2.Skin lesions are most common on the head and face. The number of lesions showed a positive correlation with the course of disease.3.It is speculated that UV exposure is the most associated risk factor for multiple basal cell carcinoma.Other possible risk factors are toxic chemicals, radiation exposure, history of skin malignancies and precutaneous lesions, family history of skin malignancies, and history of malignancies in other organs.4.The misdiagnosis rate is higher than that of single basal cell carcinoma, and the most common diagnosis is non-directional diagnosis such as skin mass and skin ulcer.5.It is common for multiple basal cell carcinoma to start as a single basal cell carcinoma.Recurrent basal cell carcinoma or basal cell carcinoma with a history of radiotherapy may develop into multiple basal cell carcinoma.
