The Evolution Of Texture And The Continuation Of Style In Beethoven’s String Quartet

String Quartet works have been created throughout Beethoven’s life and are priceless in the field of music literature.Compared with symphonies and sonatas,string quartets can better reflect the development of the composer’s deepest thoughts and personal beliefs.Nowadays,Beethoven’s string quartet works as the world’s major quartet competition must play repertoire,become the touchstone for performers.The world has never stopped the study and exploration of Beethoven as a music giant,but compared with his piano sonatas and symphonies,the literature on Beethoven’s string quartet is very few.At present,the existing materials and literatures of Beethoven string quartet at home and abroad mostly analyze a single work or movement according to the requirements of performance,or discuss the form and style of the late period.However,there are few studies on the internal texture of Beethoven string quartet.Beethoven made a historic contribution to the development of the string quartet based on Haydn and Mozart.This article will start with the analysis of the voice textures of the string quartets in the three periods of Beethoven’s creative career,longitudinally comb the voice textures and styles of Beethoven’s string quartets,and analyze Beethoven’s string quartets in the three periods.The evolution of texture and style from imitation to expansion and then to confrontation.The texture and style characteristics are contrasted horizontally,and the style continues in other works of the same period.Finally,it analyzes and explores how Beethoven in the field of string quartet has an impact on future composers.
