This paper continues the research on Li Zhi in the Chinese and Western academic circles for nearly a hundred years, and takes the characteristics of Li Zhi’s academic thought as a breakthrough to explore the psychological factors behind the tension of his thought.Ted De Bary,a well-known American scholar of the history of Chinese thought, concluded that Li Zhi was an "Extreme individualist" and a "Private or negative individualism",although it can reveal the individuality of Li Zhi’s thought to some extent it is not enough to grasp its deep connotation, and the label of "Individualism" is too narrow. If we can keep this perspective focusing on Li Zhi’s unique personality,if we look at Li Zhi’s thought with the theory of Carl Jung’s "Inidividuation",which has a deep origin with Chinese philosophy and contains a great deal of modern psychological research results,we will gain a deeper understanding in the corresponding field. This paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter discusses the origin of Carl Jung and Chinese philosophy, first introduces the General Outline of Carl Jung’s analytic philosophy of psychology and the position of the theory of "Individuation" in it,and then comprehensively discusses the connection between Carl Jung’s thought and Chinese philosophy, this paper focuses on the philosophical origin of Carl Jung and I Ching, and complements the connection between Carl Jung and The Great Learning,The Doctrine of the Mean, and the Confucian School of the Heart, which has been neglected in the current research field. The second chapter discusses the beginning of Li Zhi’s "Individuation".This paper expounds the theoretical source of Li Zhi s the doctrine of childlike innocence, and explains the role and position of"Childlike innocence" in the process of "Individuation",this paper analyzes and compares the similarities and differences between Carl Jung’s analytic philosophy of psychology and song-ming’s theory of mind. This paper uses Carl Jung’s "Mask of personality" and Martin Heidegger’s "the One" to explain the phenomenon of "False statements made by dummies",and points out how people lose the "Sincerity" of their heart, the important points of "Individuation" are:The mask of personality needs to be integrated, the person needs to get out of the predicament of "the One",stand up the subjectivity/individuality,and find the true person’s sincere heart. This chapter also points out that the process to enter the Tao itself must be"Individuation" according to Carl Jung’s warning and the exploration experience of the Chinese sages. The third chapter is to discuss the developed part of Li Zhi’s "Individuation".It would be more appropriate to begin by pointing out Ted de Bary’s error in labeling Li Zhi as "Egotistical" and explaining why the term "Individuation" is used instead. Then it analyzes the connotation of "Individuation" of Li Zhi’s resignation, and points out that Li Zhi’s internal motive is "Learning from Tao",which is in accordance with Carl Jung’s turning point of "Individuation" of "Man to Middle Age",instead of some scholars read him is disgusted with officialdom, want to "Resign" to express resistance to the feudal rule.In the Second Section, the author comments that Li Zhi "Did not regard the right and wrong of Confucius and Mencius as right and wrong"from the perspective of "Individuation".The Third Section Discusses Li Zhi’s consciousness of the confluence of Buddhism and Confucianism, showing that Li Zhi was neither a disciple of "Yang Ru Yin Chan",nor a "Taoist Orthodox" who benefited from Buddhism and Taoism but vilified Buddhism and Taoism on the one hand, instead,on the basis of publicly acknowledging his own Buddhist beliefs and Confucian identity,he consciously fused and reconciled the two. This fusion of dissonance within consciousness was a key element of Carl Jung’s "Individuation",this section reorganizes and demonstrates Li Zhi’s Buddhist belief, and analyzes the significance of his theory of "Ge WuZhiZhi".The last section of this chapter summarizes the brilliance of Li Zhi’s ideas and the unfolding of his "Individuation",while appreciating his "Courage to get his point of view on things"and to express it,this is an important step on the road to individual "Individuation".The forth chapter is to discuss the unfinished part of Li Zhi’s "Individuation".Through Li Zhi’s three important books,"Fen Books","Cang Booksn","The plane for Pure Land" in the relevant content to reveal. The First Section is "The dream of the book collection of famous mountains--The crack between the ideal of the Seeker and the value of the Literati",and the second section is "The great controversy of the Fen Books--The battle between the shadow and the mask of personality",the third section,"The plane for Pure Land",focuses on the deep contradiction between Li Zhi’s thought and psychology through the theoretical tools of Carl Jung’s analytic Psychology,he was not only a monk, but also a confucian scholar. He wanted to pursue Buddhism, but he was also strong and stubborn and refused to make peace with things. The first two sections are devoted to the analysis of the philosophy of mind, although they are not separated from the texts and thoughts of Li Zhi’s works. The latter section deals mainly with the ideological background of Li Zhi’s life, namely,"The integration of Zen and Buddhism" and "The integration of the three religions",on the basis of grasping the core thoughts and basic spirits of Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism,it is difficult for individuals to integrate the philosophical thoughts with different purposes and the different outlook on life and personality, the paper also points out that although the three religions seem to share the same structure of mind-nature theory, their depth and depth are still different, which we should not ignore. The last section is the reflection and conclusion of the unfinished part of Li Zhi’s "Individuation".In the conclusion section, the author reflects on Li Zhi’s life pain with the philosophy of Chinese philosophy and the profound meaning of Western"Alchemy" promoted by Carl Jung respectively, inspired,in terms of Chinese philosophy,by Li Zhi’s"Anti-self",so much so that his "Book of Deeds","The Fen books",is full of tearful lamentations about his own incomprehension and the war on the other,in terms of "ALCHEMY",the failure of the integration of the second part with the "Soul of the world" reflects the insufficiency of the connection between the first part and the various aspects of the inner mind, that is,"Individuation",which is in line with the Confucian idea of "Going down to school and going up to school",in order to reach the "Not yet in the middle",we must first have the "Sum of the Middle Segments" and reach the metaphysical realm of "Neutralization",carl Jung’s analytical psychology is to a great extent to expose and reconcile the deep psychological contradictions, which is consistent with the ancient people’s pursuit of the state of "Neutralization",it’s just that Carl Jung is dealing with modern people who have deeper psychological deposits and more complicated inner conflicts,so he has a more complicated theoretical and practical appearance, but Li Zhi’s life in Confucianism and Buddhism failed when he finally committed suicide by cutting his own throat in prison, resulting in a huge personality split,in addition, there are some seeds of "Modernity" in his thought, and even some radical demands of emancipating personality and pursuing self-nature,so it is appropriate to choose Carl Jung’s analytic philosophy of psychology to reflect on Li Zhi’s thought. Therefore,in the next chapter, this thesis turns to the Contemporary Transformation of Chinese Philosophy. The article points out that Chinese philosophy,as a great spiritual ocean, has its own great tradition and quality of openness and inclusiveness. If the Chinese traditional temperament theory can be integrated with modern Western psychology,it will surely bring great benefits to the spiritual civilization construction of individuals and society. This paper opens up a new dimension in the study of Li Zhi,breaks through the stereotype of "Anti-feudal fighter" and "Heresy",and introduces the viewpoint of"Individuation" of Western analytical psychology to study the ancient Chinese thinkers, this makes the cultural exchange between East and West and the contemporary transformation of Chinese philosophy have a concrete,in-depth and meaningful attempt.
