At the end of the 19 th century and the beginning of the 20 th century,with the unremitting efforts of countless outstanding musicians,Russian music reached unprecedented heights and brilliant achievements.As a highly skilled pianist and the last romantic composer of the first half of the twentieth century,Rachmaninoff has forged an immortal monument in piano music.He composed a large number of piano works and is known as the "tragic and profound sound of Russia"."Elegy" is one of the most representative piano works,which enjoys a high position in the field of musicology,so this work is selected for analysis.This article first introduces the composer and the background of the work,to experience the spiritual connotation in the musical work and experience the profound thoughts and feelings that Rachmaninoff wants to express.Secondly,on the basis of analyzing the musical characteristics of the work,the melody,dynamics,rhythm,timbre and performance characteristics of touch keys and pedals of "Tragic Song" were mainly analyzed in detail.
