In recent years,with the progress of domestic vocal music,Chinese national vocal music works have also obtained unprecedented development,at the same time in the creation of continuous absorption of western composition techniques,and finally formed a unique Chinese opera with national characteristics.Most of its stories are folk stories,the spirit of Anti-Japanese War,the development of The Times and anecdotes of celebrities.The root of the story lies in the promotion and development of national culture and the inheritance and development of national spirit.Since its premiere at the National Center for the Performing Arts in 2012,the opera Canal Ballad has been well received both at home and abroad.His appearance not only promoted the development of domestic opera creation,but also opened up a new era of national opera.This paper takes "Canal Ballad" as the research object and its heroine "Water Honglian" as the main body of exploration,interprets the characters’ personalities according to different plots and different passages,analyzes the musical structure by using the relationship between characters and the development of the plot,summarizes the creation style and the specific requirements for the singer,and interprets the characters from multiple angles,so as to help the singer better complete the opera singing.As "Canal Ballad" is a relatively new opera,it is also different from the female characters in other operas in the characterization of characters,so that it has more personality and can better reflect the national characteristics.
