Musical Characteristics And Performance Analysis Of Chen Yi’s Piano Adaptation "Guessing The Tune"

The work "Guessing the Tune" analyzed in this paper is a piano piece adapted from Yunnan folk song "Guessing the Tune" by Chen Yi,a composer living in the United States.This work draws from Chinese folk music materials,integrates Chinese traditional music elements into piano works,and adopts free form structure in the principle of variation with novel creation techniques,perfectly presenting Chen Yi’s unique charm in creation.In this paper,the music characteristics and playing techniques of Chen Yi’s piano adaptation "Guess the Tune" are taken as the breakthrough point to conduct in-depth discussion and research,mainly from three parts: the first part is mainly about the research significance,current situation,innovation and methods of this topic overview of the basic introduction of the work;The second part interprets the musical characteristics of the works through rhythm,melody,form and other elements,so as to facilitate readers to have a deeper understanding of the works from various aspects and lay a theoretical foundation for the later performance.The third part is the performance analysis of the works from the aspects of sound effect and technical points,grasp the performance of the sound effect according to the changes of intensity,speed,rhythm and beat,through the analysis of touch keys,octaves,pedals to achieve the best performance,and on the basis of a full understanding of the works to combine theory with practice,so that the expression of musical emotion is sublimated.The author hopes that through the personal performance experience and theoretical analysis of this work,people will have a deeper understanding of Chinese piano adaptation,in order to provide some reference ideas for readers who want to know this work and play this work or similar works.
