A scientific understanding of the interaction between regional human activities and district systems, and the continuous improvement of human living standards on the basis of objective changes in the natural environment, are essential requirements for coordinated and sustainable regional development.Promoting coordinated regional development and building a new pattern of high-quality development are also highlighted components of the report of the 20 th Communist Party of China. As the frontier window of economic and trade exchanges between China and ASEAN countries, the Sino-Vietnamese border areas continue to deepen and optimize regional development based on national strategies such as border prosperity and One Belt One Road.Nevertheless, limited by the special geographical environment and historical factors, there is still a gap between the development of the border areas of China and Vietnam and the developed areas of the eastern coast in all aspects. As a result of the massive migration of people near the border, the border areas have become less populated and more crowded outside and empty inside.Based on the theory of man-land relationship territorial system and the theory of sustainable development,we have constructed a 30-indicator evaluation system for the harmonious development of man-land relationship based on the unique location of the Sino-Vietnamese border area and the development characteristics of each county,in three dimensions: the development pressure characteristics of human activities, the carrying state characteristics of the territorial system, and the regulatory response measures.Secondly, the comprehensive evaluation method is used to measure and analyze the overall level characteristics and spatial-temporal pattern evolution process of man-land development in the Sino-Vietnamese border area from2000 to 2020.Then,the matter-element model is used to reveal the coordinated development degree of man-land relationship and describe the change of spatial and temporal pattern. Finally,on the basis of identifying the influencing factors of the obstacles to the development of humanland relations in the Sino-Vietnamese border areas, targeted optimization suggestions are proposed. The results showed that:(1)From 2000 to 2020,there are significant spatial and temporal differences in the development of man-land relationship in the Sino-Vietnamese border area, with man-land relations in a growth phase and an obvious east-west divergence pattern, with the Guangxi section responding more sharply to man-land interactions than the Yunnan section. The intensity of human activity has become more intense over time, with the intensity of human activity relatively higher in the eastern coastal section of Guangxi and lower in the mountainous section of Yunnan. The regional system state index shows an ’inverted v-shaped’ change, with each county showing different degrees of fluctuation in the regional system index over time, and the overall index decreasing, showing an overall spatial pattern of high in the north and low in the south, with Jiangcheng County in the northern Yunnan section showing a higher regional system state index. The regulation response index has steadily increased year by year, showing a significant spatial difference pattern overall, with the regulation response index of Fangcheng District in the eastern Guangxi section and Hekou County in the western Yunnan section being more prominent.(2)From 2000 to 2020,the coordination degree of men-land relations in the Sino-Vietnam border area showed a trend of increasing and then decreasing, undergoing a process of "on the verge of disorder-barely coordinated".In general,Pingxiang,Fangcheng and Daxin counties,as prefectures with relatively good economic development in the Sino-Vietnamese border area, have the highest degree of interaction and interdependence between human activities and the regional system, and the coordination effect is better among the 15 counties and cities. The degree of coordinated development of human-territory relations in the Sino-Vietnamese border area has all improved to a certain extent, with the overall coordination decreasing from the eastern coastal areas to the western mountainous areas. The coordination of man-land relations in the Yunnan section is generally at the edge of low-level coordination, while the coordination of man-land relations in the Guangxi section has improved overall. There are problems such as a high degree of variation between counties and districts, uneven development, and overall manland relationship coordination at a low level of coordination.(3)From the criterion level of the barrier degree model, the barrier factors at the criterion level in the Sino-Vietnamese border area in 2000-2020 mainly focus on production methods, pollution emissions and population growth in the early period, while the structure of the main sources of barriers in the later period changes to economic development, production methods and pollution emissions, and land use, etc. The degree of influence and change trends of each criterion level vary over time The degree of influence and trends of each criterion layer vary over time. From the indicator layer, the main factors limiting the obstacles to the harmonious development of man-land relations in the Sino-Vietnamese border area are the proportion of industrial output in GDP,the average local wastewater emissions, the ease of transportation, the rate of land degradation and the proportion of ecological land. The backward stage of socioeconomic development in the region, the inefficient development of industry, high pollution emissions, the imperfect support of regional infrastructure, the unreasonable structure of land resource use,the prominent phenomenon of rough use,and the lack of awareness of the protection of arable land and ecological protection among border people are obvious shortcomings.(4)As a comprehensive development, the harmonious development of human-land relations needs to take into account the coherence of human activities and regional systems,so as to achieve the overall synergy effect of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.Taking the harmonious development of human-earth relations as a guideline and combining the main influencing factors,it is suggested that the advantages of regional resource background distribution be clarified, industrial parks be laid out,and the advanced power of industrial development be enhanced;infrastructure construction be reasonably strengthened to improve the flow of resource elements between regions;the land space of border areas be scientifically planned to ensure the proportion of ecological land;and the awareness of resource use conservation and protection be enhanced among border people to improve the level of resource recycling. The path to the harmonious development of the relationship between people and land,to promote the harmonious and sustainable development of the human-land system.
