At the end of the 19 th century and the beginning of the 20 th century,the field of visual art in Europe experienced tremendous changes,setting off a wave of design transformation.Illustrators and architects from France to Belgium,Italy,Austria,England and other European countries have set off a global national romantic movement,namely L’Art Nouveau(L’Art Nouveau)with a very self-conscious style.Art Nouveau is in a specific period in the history of Western art design.The background of the collision and integration of many pure art schools has led to the brilliance of illustration design in this period.France is the birthplace of neoclassicism,romanticism,realism,and impressionism.Its artistic accumulation made illustration creation usher in its peak at the end of the 19 th century.This article takes the representative illustrations of French Art Nouveau illustrator George Barbier as the core research object.Through the longitudinal analysis of the social consciousness,literary ideas,prevailing artistic styles,and aesthetic spirit of the Art Nouveau background,the three different stages of French Art Nouveau are sorted out,and the three different stages correspond to the creation of George Barbier’s illustrations.The influence of inner consciousness and outer form;put forward his own views on the subject,composition,color,etc.of Barbier’s illustrations before,during and after Barbier,and analyze the relationship between pure art painting and Barbier’s illustrations in a way of picture analysis Visual presentation;compare the oriental decorative works represented by Ukiyo-e with Barbier’s illustrations,analyze the influence of oriental decorative art on Barbier’s later stage of creation;combine the external social aesthetic spirit with the internal illustration creation consciousness,and pass The correlation analysis of artwork in practical design fields such as illustrations and architecture,illustrations and utensils found common design rules.This article uses induction,contrast,and analysis to combine relevant background monographs,research on the representative of the Art Nouveau illustrator,and Barbier’s biographies,and analyzes the conceptual reasons and technical rules of the creation of his illustrations,thus demonstrating that at the end of the 19 th century Under the impact of the change of the times,the illustration creation is consistent with the concept of the times.French illustrator George Barbier is one of the representatives who have experienced the entire Art Nouveau movement.This article draws on the three different aspects of the relationship between art trends and illustration creation,the analysis of illustration forms and media,the interpretation of illustration styles and the content of literary works.Analyze his illustrations.Based on the specific background of the late 19 th century and the beginning of the 20 th century and the creative concept of pure art genre,he explores the art form of his illustration,summarizes his absorption and innovation of eastern and western art genres,and then summarizes the connection between pure art painting and practical design illustration.
