Research On The Professional Inheritance Of Fujian Folk Taoists

Fujian has a long and profound tradition of folk beliefs.It is the folk Taoist group that is closely integrated with folk belief activities.They serve folk belief activities and have a huge influence.Folk Taoists,also known as folk masters,are also called "shigong" in ethnic minority areas such as Zhuangyao in Guangxi.Most of them belong to the Taoist school.On the one hand,they are different from Quanzhen Taoism in Taoism.Most of the folk Taoists break away from Taoism and establish their own Taoist altars at home.They can marry wives and have children,and inherit the family blood based on the eldest son inheritance system.As a special profession,folk Taoists exist in social life.They are not only a professional group,they serve palaces and households,adding sacredness to them through rituals,and have practical significance to society;at the same time,they are also masters of cultural skills.The dance,calligraphy,vocal music,and props in the ceremony are all concrete manifestations of folk culture and have good cultural value.In the context of the ancient traditional society,folk Taoists were in the middle class of rural society in terms of economy,power and prestige.However,with the suppression of folk Taoists in modern society and the acceleration of modern urbanization,the demand for folk Taoists has decreased,the folk market has shrunk,and the career inheritance of folk Taoists has suffered an unprecedented crisis.The folk Taoists in some places in Fujian have gradually declined.,The professional inheritance of the folk Taoist priests has been faulted,and the folk Taoist culture cannot be fully inherited and developed.This paper takes Minhou County,Fuzhou City,Fujian Province,Gutian County and Pingnan County of Ningde City as the field survey points,using literature analysis,participatory observation,questionnaire survey and interview methods to collect first-hand research data,and use the career system theory,Action system theory and professional social stratification theory as guidance,analyze the research topics in a quantitative and qualitative way.From the distribution,gender,age,education level,income and prestige occupation characteristics of the folk Taoist priests,it summarizes the professional survival and inheritance status of the folk Taoist priests,expounds the folk Taoist inheritance methods and multiple values,and analyzes the inheritance dilemma of the folk Taoists.And try to discuss the professional inheritance of the folk Taoist priests to provide reference for solving the problem of the inheritance of the folk Taoist priests.This study found that in the context of rapid social and economic development and urbanization,the current number of folk Taoists and the number of professional inheritors in the field survey points have been greatly reduced.This is mainly due to the lack of succession of blood inheritance.The generation gap between the form of inheritance of people,master and apprentice exists in name only,and the form of inheritance of institutions.There are many reasons for this situation.In summary,the following points can be summarized: the decline of the folk Taoist priests themselves,the changes in the demand and understanding of the folk Taoist priests,and the recognition of the legality of the folk Taoist status.After summarizing and reflecting on the dilemma of survival and inheritance faced by contemporary folk Taoists,this article attempts to propose practical ways to get out of the predicament.
