| In recent years,Core Competencies has become a hot topic in elementary education.The changes of teaching objectives of subject curriculum has brought about the reform of teaching.As for the subject of English,the English Curriculum Standards for Senior High School issued by the Ministry of Education in 2017 clearly points out that the Core Competencies of English includes language ability,cultural awareness,learning ability and thinking quality.Task-based teaching method is a kind of teaching method conducive to the development of students’ Core Competencies,and this teaching method has been gradually promoted and applied in high school English reading teaching.This study is based on the constructivist learning theory,holistic educational theory and humanistic educational theory,adopted the methods of questionnaire,classroom observation and interview,aimed to investigate the current situation of Task-based approach applied in English reading teaching in Senior High School under the Core Competencies.The participants of this study are 250 students and 5 English teachers from a middle school in Hanzhong.This study mainly discusses the following two issues:(1)What is the current situation of the task-based approach in senior high school English reading class under the demand of Core Competencies?(2)What is the current situation of cultivation of students’ Core Competencies under the task-based approach in the English reading class of senior high school?(3)How to better applied task-based teaching approach in high school English reading classes to enhance students’ Core Competencies?The research results show that: first of all,teachers almost always use Task-based teaching method in high school English reading classes,but there are still some problems when combining with the demand of Core Competencies,which is mainly manifested as the unbalanced development of students’ four the demand of Core Competencies of English subject.Both students and teachers pay more attention to the cultivation of language ability,while ignoring the other three abilities.In terms of learning ability,the tasks designed by teachers are able to stimulate students’ interest in learning,and the cultivation of students’ emotion is basically in place.This indicates that teachers pay more attention to the cultivation of students’ learning attitude in the task-based teaching mode of high school reading classroom,and teachers pay more attention to mobilize students’ learning enthusiasm when designing tasks.However,teachers also need to strengthen the cultivation of students’ learning strategies and learning methods.In terms of thinking quality,the tasks designed by teachers are still lacking in cultivating students’ critical thinking.It can be seen that teachers pay more attention to the cultivation of students’ logical thinking.In the aspect of cultural awareness,the tasks set by teachers cultivate students’ cultural knowledge more,while the tasks set in the aspect of cultural awareness cultivation are relatively less.Based on the above research findings,the author puts forward some feasible suggestions from the perspective of teaching and designed the teaching plan. |
