The report of the 20 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China put forward the idea of "carrying forward the revolutionary culture and inheriting the excellent traditional Chinese culture".The spread of revolutionary culture and the revolutionary spirit reflected in red documentaries are the valuable spiritual wealth of the CPC,which is of great significance for educating the world,enhancing the cultural self-confidence and national pride of the people,and cultivating socialist core values.Revolutionary culture has a vibrant and upward red characteristic,containing rich revolutionary spirit and profound historical and cultural connotations.Promoting revolutionary culture is of great significance for further enhancing cultural confidence and realizing the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.Therefore,a large number of films,TV dramas,and documentaries have emerged with the creative intention of telling revolutionary historical stories and showcasing revolutionary spirit.Among them,documentaries,with their objective and authentic artistic characteristics,have natural advantages in telling revolutionary stories and promoting revolutionary culture,which has led to the emergence of the special type of documentary,the red documentary.Although the creative themes of red documentaries cannot be separated from praising and praising the revolutionary spirit,the theoretical community has not conducted a systematic and comprehensive analysis and research on the visual presentation of the revolutionary spirit as a cultural symbol,and has never combined the expression of the meaning of the revolutionary spirit with the construction of visual symbols to explore.Therefore,this article will adopt research methods such as case analysis and creative practice to focus on analyzing the "construction of image symbols of revolutionary spirit".Firstly,the "revolutionary spirit" reflected in red documentaries will be systematically sorted out,and the cultural value and aesthetic significance presented in red documentaries will be studied.Secondly,in-depth study of its existing image presentation and connotation expression,and use the relevant knowledge of semiotics combined with specific cases to analyze the "revolutionary spirit",the red cultural symbol,the value significance and specific path of the image symbol construction in the documentary,on this basis,demonstrate the practical integration and innovation methods.Finally,In my graduation work "Red Yimeng",I fully innovatively practiced the research theory of this topic.The first part of this article mainly defines the concepts of red documentaries,revolutionary spirit and image symbols,and summarizes the theoretical basis of semiotics involved.The second part takes the revolutionary spirit into consideration in red documentaries,and believes that the construction of revolutionary spirit image symbols in red documentaries can enhance the propaganda function and educational significance in terms of era value,endow documentary aesthetics and artistic aesthetics in aesthetics,and strengthen family and country feelings and cultural identity in terms of humanistic value.The third and fourth parts mainly adopt case study methods,with red documentaries created with the spirit of the Four Great Revolutions as the research object.The analysis of image symbols in cinematography is applied to the specific case creation of red documentaries to analyze the construction of visual symbols and auditory symbols in these types of documentaries.Visual symbols also include character symbols,scene symbols,prop symbols,and folk cultural symbols,Auditory symbols include vocal symbols,musical notation,acoustic symbols,etc.This paper analyzes the image symbol system formed by red documentaries in the construction of revolutionary spirit,a cultural symbol,from many aspects.The fifth part analyzes the integration and innovation methods of current red documentary creation in the presentation of revolutionary spirit images from four aspects: text,narrative,imagery,and dissemination.The sixth part combines the above research theory with practice,and practices creation in one’s own graduation works.Through visual and auditory symbols,the Yimeng spirit is constructed through visual and auditory symbols,and feasible fusion and innovation methods are explored in visual presentation.Through the above research,the "revolutionary spirit" as a cultural symbol is extracted from red documentaries,with a focus on analyzing and discussing its function,era value,and aesthetic significance.The concept of image symbols is introduced into the study of red documentaries,and through specific case analysis,the construction path of image symbols is summarized.Provide new ideas and inspiration for the subsequent creation of red documentaries,break away from the outdated expression of commentary combined with historical scenes,innovate creative ideas,and stimulate the creative inspiration of creators.
