| According to the National English Curriculum Standards for general High School(2017 edition,2020 revision),general high school English courses are characterized by instrumental and humanistic integration.The cultivation goal is to further improve students’ humanistic quality,focus on developing the core competence of English discipline,and lay a good foundation for students to continue learning English and lifelong development.It can be seen that English teaching centered solely on language knowledge is far from meeting the requirements of the new curriculum standards.Therefore,it is necessary to change the narrow view of foreign language learning with language knowledge as the main goal and advocate the educational view of “cultural people” oriented towards the community of human destiny.It is an important task of English teaching from the perspective of new curriculum to promote the development of students’ mentality,emotion,attitude and values as well as the improvement of comprehensive humanistic quality.It is also an educational project based on the present and facing the future.Based on humanistic theory and affective teaching theory,this study mainly explores the following questions from three dimensions of students’ humanistic knowledge,humanistic spirit and humanistic behavior,based on the interpretation of scholar Lin Chongde on humanistic quality:(1)What is the current situation of humanistic quality cultivation in high school English teaching?(2)What are the main factors influencing this current situation?In this study,240 students from three high schools in Huizhou--Huizhou Dongjiang High School,Huizhou Hua Luogeng High School and Huizhou Comprehensive High School were selected as the research subjects.Questionnaire survey and interview were adopted.SPSS 20.0 statistical software was used for data analysis,and 3 students and 2 English teachers were randomly selected from the subjects for interview.The results of this study show that students’ humanistic quality in high schools is is in the middle level(M=3.594);Among them,humanistic spirit(M=3.952)>humanistic behavior(M=3.692)> humanistic knowledge(M=3.138),indicating that humanistic spirit is higher than humanistic behavior and humanistic knowledge.In addition,the main factors influencing high school students’ humanistic quality are school environment,English teacher quality,evaluation system,English classroom atmosphere and English teaching methods.From the interview,there is also a new factor influencing the cultivation of humanistic quality in high school English teaching,that is,the pressure of teachers.Finally,this study puts forward that English teachers can improve their humanistic quality,enrich teaching methods,implement individualized evaluation and so on to improve students’ humanistic quality. |
