A Study On The Application Of Repetitive Narrative Strategy In Experimental Animated Representations

Experimental animation is often an innovative and exploratory art form that differs from the traditional narrative approach of commercial animation and film in that it focuses more on the representation and exploration of formal and artistic concepts.Therefore,in experimental animation,repetitive narrative and ideographic functions may have different ways of expression and purpose.The form of repetition can be used in experimental animation to express a certain emotion,theme or concept.By presenting the same scene,image or action repeatedly,a certain feeling or idea in it can be emphasized and impressed on the viewer’s mind.For example,some experimental animators use looping animation to express the concept of infinity of time or natural cycles.Other experimental animators use repetitive designs to explore human memories,dreams or psychological states.Through constant repetition and metamorphosis,the viewer can feel the deep connotation of certain emotions and ideas.Unlike narrative storytelling,the ideational function may not be as straightforward in experimental animation.Experimental animation may explore and express certain emotions or concepts through visual and audio effects.For example,some experimental animators use abstract forms and colors to express emotions and feelings.Other experimental animators use figurative symbols and signs to explore a theme or concept.These symbols and signs are often very personal and subjective,requiring the viewer to understand and interpret them.This paper explores the function and role of repetition in narrative strategy and ideation,etc.in conjunction with the graduation work "Digital Faces",to help the audience understand and feel the emotions,themes and concepts that the animators want to express.In general,in experimental animation,different forms and means of narrative strategy and ideographic functions of repetition can be used,and experimental animators can create unique and profound artworks for viewers to gain new insights and reflections in their appreciation.
