The Cognitive And Functional Study Of Chinese Modal Expressions Of Reluctance Based On The Three Domains Of "Acting,Knowing And Uttering"

Based on the theory of modality and the theory of acting,knowing and uttering,refering to the theory of lexicalization,grammaticalization,subjectivization and speech act,and applying the methods of statistics,induction and comparison,this paper summarizes modal expressions of reluctance in modern Chinese language,and discusses the modal semantics and pragmatic functions of the modal word “Zhineng”,the modal expression “Suanle” and the modal construction “X Hai Chabuduo”.Except for introduction and conclusion,there are four chapters.The introduction part introduces the reason,research content,research status,theoretical methods and corpus source of this paper.The first chapter,based on dictionary interpretation and previous studies,summarizes 36 modal words,and classifies them by two aspects of form and meaning.The former is divided into modal words,modal discourse markers and modal construction.The latter belongs to dynamic and deontic modality,epistemic modality and evaluative modality separately.The second chapter,from the perspective of the combination of meanings,extracts the modal semantics of the modal word “Zhineng”,summarizes its modal types,and distinguishes their subjectivity,frequency of use and conceptual domain.The pragmatic functions of“Zhineng” and its conceptual domain are summarized from the perspective of the Three Domains Theory.In addition,this chapter compares the meaning and usage of “Zhineng” and “Bunengbu”,“Zhinengshuo” and “Bunengbu Shuo”.The third chapter supplements the lexicalization and grammaticalization of “Suanle” from the semantic perspective,and uses the some theories,such as acting,knowing and uttering,to re-discuss the modal semantics and pragmatic functions of “Suanle” from the perspective of combination of form and meaning.The fourth chapter extracts the features and structural patterns of “X Hai Chabuduo”,determines that “X Hai Chabuduo” is a modal construction from two criteria,and combs its process of constructionalization and constructional evolution.Finally,this chapter summarizes the modal semantics and pragmatic functions of the construction.The conclusion part summarizes the main conclusions of this paper and existent insufficiency.
