| As an important part of English grammar,inflections are the long-term focus and difficulty of English teaching in senior high schools.Research shows that most senior high school students have significant deficiencies in their mastery of English inflections.However,there is still a lack of domestic and international research on this topic in the current literature,especially in terms of experimental research.Therefore,further research on senior high school English inflections is of great significance.The research aims to investigate:(1)whether English inflections are teachable?(2)How effective is the “5E Teaching Model” in teaching English inflections to senior high school students?During the research process,experimental research and testing methods were mainly adopted.The experiment mainly used the “5E Teaching Model” to teach students English inflections.In fact,the experimental class consisted of 50 students from Class X of Grade 2,and the “5E Teaching Model” was adopted;The control class consists of 50 students from Class X,Grade 2,without targeted teaching.The research institute adopts SPSS 26.0 data analysis software,with one-way analysis of variance and non-parametric testing as the main methods for data processing.The test results showed that the post test scores of the experimental class were significantly higher than those of the control group,and also significantly higher than the pre-test scores of the experimental class.Meanwhile,in the delayed post-test conducted one month after the end of the teaching experiment,there was no significant difference in the scores between the experimental class and the control class,and there was a significant difference in the results from the instant post-test of the experimental class.The experimental results indicate that the “5E teaching model”has a relatively significant immediate teaching effect on English inflections for senior high school English students.However,for the long-term improvement of students’ ability and level in using English inflections,the improvement effect of this teaching method is not significant enough.Therefore,the teaching inspiration of the study is that senior high school English teachers do not need to overly focus on teaching English inflections in teaching practice,but should encourage English teachers to adopt various methods and techniques,especially in a subtle way,to solve the matching problem between students’ deep syntactic knowledge and surface morphology in English inflections. |
