In recent years,Chinese family-themed drama films have gradually become a popular genre in the field of film and television production,with a unique Eastern aesthetic style in emotional expression and aesthetic features.Family culture is one of the core cultural values in Chinese culture,family-themed drama films resonate with audiences by portraying the emotional entanglements of family members,changes and rebuilding of family relationships in real life.The success of family-themed drama films not only reflects the audience’s love and pursuit of this genre,but also indicates the continuous progress of the Chinese film and television industry,with broad commercial prospects and artistic value.This research focuses on character shaping in family-themed drama films,and adapts a story about a father and son to create the drama film Sunrise and Sunset for presentation to the public,contributing to the development of this genre.This article is divided into five parts.The first chapter is the introduction,which includes an overview of the research background and significance,a review of related research at home and abroad,research methods,and innovation;the second chapter is a conceptual analysis of the graduation work Sunrise and Sunset,which includes an overview and feature of family-themed drama films,the concept of character shaping,and the significance of character shaping in family-themed drama films;the third chapter combines the drama film Sunrise and Sunset to describe character development in text expression,including plot narration,setting suspense,and conflict;the fourth chapter is the use of audio-visual language in character development in film including close-up shots,light and shadow effects,and sound language;the fifth chapter is the research conclusion and prospects.
