Research On The Narrative Mode Of Museum Display Design

With the expansion of the field of social aesthetics and the increasing diversification of social life,individuals are becoming increasingly preoccupied with the spiritual realm.As a response to the social developmental model’s derived social spiritual needs,cultural relic museums have shown an augmented interest in enhancing emotional experiences,promoting audience participation,and increasing diversity in space functions through their display and presentation efforts.To better integrate social needs into the historical culture,museums such as Jiangxi Provincial Museum,have resorted to intervention in narrative modes via display designs to improve their audiences’ effective comprehension of the conveyed information and elicit an emotional response,fulfilling the need for a condensed experience of Jiangxi Province’s historical and cultural heritage.Through the museum display design’s narrative perspective,this article seamlessly integrates interactive media displays and narrative techniques,with a clear emphasis on display narrative logic content and purpose.By analyzing the present state of narrative development in Jiangxi Provincial Museum’s displays,the paper further explores the transformation of the ’object-oriented’presentation form into a ’human-oriented’ interactive display concept,culminating in the efficient construction of the museum’s display story situation,heightened experience of the display space,transmission of the narrative spirit connotation,and ultimately fulfilling the educational function of the museum’s documentary nature.The article aims to enrich Jiangxi Provincial Museum’s display effect through the narrative mode’s perspective and offer enlightenment to its audience.The first section of the article primarily delineates the subject’s foundation,the current condition of narrative theory and display design theory on both domestic and international scales,and articulates the objectives and methodologies of this research.By developing a rudimentary understanding of museums,display design,narratology,and other related theories,consulting relevant literature on narratology and Jiangxi Provincial Museum display design,analyzing the correlation between narrative methodologies and display design,and assessing the interdisciplinary feasibility of both,the fundamental concepts of the article are elucidated.The second section elaborates on the relevant theories of museum,display design,and narratology.It provides an overview of the development context and categorization of contemporary museums,as well as the urban cultural characteristics of Jiangxi museums.From a diverse perspective of display design forms,it analyzes the intervention of narrative methods and extracts the narrative logic in display design for conceptual analysis.The third section of this study delves into the existing display issues at the Jiangxi Provincial Museum,providing a theoretical analysis that comprehensively examines the museum’s fundamental overview,including its display themes,collection formats,positioning,and audience.This segment of the study delves into the narrative structure of display design,specifically in the context of theoretical research,with a focus on text,space,and emotional narrative structures.In the fourth section,various methodologies have been explored for addressing the issues plaguing the Jiangxi Provincial Museum,summarizing improvement ideas and guiding principles aimed at expanding the institution’s range of immersive and socially and culturally valuable displays.Ultimately,the goal of this paper is to broaden the museum’s reach to realize the educational function of other museums.The fifth and final section provides a conclusion to the exhibition narrative of the Jiangxi Provincial Museum,summarizing and reflecting on the current accomplishments,shortcomings,and prospects of the article.
