"Neoclassicism" is one of the more important musical schools in western music in the 20 th century. The rise and development of neoclassicism is closely related to the frequent outbreak of European wars in the 19 th and 20 th centuries.Wars have brought indelible wounds to human beings, and people have witnessed the cruelty of wars in the deep suffering. However, such social background and overall environment led to subtle changes in the creative psychology of musicians. The music developed in the Romantic period with the personal and national colors of composers began to develop into distorted and extreme expression of personal subjective emotions after the war,and the national contradictions also began to become more and more intense. The proposal of "neoclassicism" is to call on musicians to pick up the objective faith in music,to revive and recreate the balanced, stable and objective musical property of the Baroque period and the classical period.Throughout the thousands of years of history of western music, the influence of social environment on music can be seen.As a music school developed against the trend of The Times in the early 20 th century, the study of neoclassicism can better reflect the pluralistic value of the development of western music in the 20 th century. At present, the main focus of domestic research on neoclassical schools is still Busoni,Stravinsky and other musicians. At the beginning of the 20 th century, when neoclassicism was still in its infancy,Poulenc and the above musicians communicated and studied in the Paris Music Salon.Poulenc’s ideas and creative concepts also more or less influenced other composers around him.At the same time,he was also a relatively famous young generation of composers in the Paris music industry at that time. Therefore, the study of Poulenc’s musical style from the perspective of neoclassicism can better enrich the study of this school. At present, the research on Poulenc at home and abroad still focuses on the analysis of a certain work, and the research results on the characteristics of his neoclassical style are few. This paper begins with this,to study the characteristics of Poulenc ’s neoclassical creation,in order to enrich the current research results on this aspect of Poulenc. This paper takes the neoclassical music style of Poulenc as the core, and uses literature research method, comparative research method, musicological analysis method and other research methods to make an in-depth study of the school and his works. This paper is divided into three parts. The first chapter is to study the social history and cultural background of the emergence of "neoclassicism",the origin of neoclassicism, the musical characteristics of the schools, and the influence of neoclassicism on the music art of Poulenc. The second chapter is the ontological analysis of Poulenc ’s music works, from which we know how he put neoclassicism into practice and integrate it into his music works. The third chapter is a comparison with Stravinsky’s neo-classical creative techniques.Stravinsky is the musician who has the greatest influence on Poulenc in this school. What are Poulenc ’s creative techniques inherited from him and what are they developed from him? The research in this aspect can fully reflect Poulenc ’s neo-classical style. To determine the historical position and influence of Poulenc in the neoclassical school.
