Francis Poulenc(1899-1963)is an important French composer and pianist in the 20th century, and a member of France"Mission Six".His piano works has manifested the French style fully in the Neoclassic Period which are A beautiful clear, humorous novel, and the bohemian freedom of comfortable .The fifteen impromptus were among Francis Poulenc's favourite piano works. This work stems from his most brilliant period of the nineteenth century, the creation of the thirties, is extremely representative. Through fifteen Impromptus, Francis Poulenc displays their own personality fully and expresses the neo-classical and French music vividly. We may see the essential technique and the characteristic from them which the composer utilizes.With literature reference and theoretical analysis as the main research approach, as the background of Francis Poulenc and his fifteen impromptus, carries on music analysis to these piano works, and discuss the music characteristic, combining her own practice of piano performance, the author of this article studies and analyzes the performance and teaching of impromptus in the aspects of perception and reason, thereby elaborates the teaching value of the eight impromptus embodied.
