Research On The Application Of Traditional Minnan Turtle Stamps Pattern In Xiamen Subway Public Art

The turtle-shaped mold is a kind of cake making mold in southern Fujian folklore,beautifully decorated and rich in symbolic meaning,reflecting the simple thoughts and emotions of southern Fujian people and their aspirations for a better life.With the rapid development of technology and marketization,most of the handicraft skills and creation forms are gradually replaced by mechanized production,and many living cultural traditions are rapidly transformed into cultural heritage that needs to be protected.It is not only an important carrier of Minnan food culture and festival customs,but also an embodiment of people’s spiritual connotation and the continuation of collective memory,so it is important to protect and inherit this skill.This project recreates the art of turtle-shaped molds through the form of public art and integrates it into the public space of the subway to enhance the public’s re-cognition of traditional culture,so as to better inherit and protect the turtle-shaped molds in southern Fujian.In the first phase,we conducted a field survey to collect and record the information about the turtle mold,and through the collation and analysis of the field data,we elaborated the shape and craft characteristics of the turtle mold in combination with the folk culture characteristics of southern Fujian,then classified the turtle mold pattern according to different dimensions,analyzed the composition elements,formal beauty and symbolic meaning of the mold pattern,explored the entry point of the turtle mold pattern in the metro public art creation,and integrated the elements of the southern Fujian turtle mold pattern into the metro public art.The artist will integrate the elements of the Minnan turtle cake impression pattern into the public art creation of Xiamen subway,and carry out the artistic transformation of the impression pattern in the public space for the mural of the station hall level and the waiting hall,the station column surface and the floor sticker of Jimei Xuecun Station,in an attempt to give new life to the traditional folk culture language in the contemporary public space.
