A Report On Translation Of Graphene Roadmap Briefs(No.2):Industrialization Status And Prospects 2020 Under The Guidance Of Relevance Theory

Since its practical isolation,graphene has been a material of great concern to researchers.Due to its characteristics of flexibility,high light transmittance and light weight,it has high potential application value in many fields such as electronics,energy industry and medical materials.However,owing to the immaturity of its research,there remain challenges to large-scale high-quality industrial production of graphene.Domestic research on graphene was carried out relatively late,so the translation of foreign excellent research in the field of graphene can be used as a reference for domestic research and industrial application of graphene.The translation material of this translation practice report is selected from the journal paper Graphene Roadmap Briefs(No.2): industrialization status and prospects2020 in 2D Materials.The translation of scientific and technological texts requires the translator to accurately convey the original information,and the translation should be conducive to the understanding of target readers.Guided by Relevance Theory,the translator analyzes specific examples from the lexical,syntactic and textual levels.From the lexical level,the report discusses the application of the Theory in the translation of technical words,semi-technical words and abbreviations.Syntactically,the translation of nominalized structures,passive sentences,subordinate clauses and non-finite verbs is studied.In discourse,the application to the translation of cohesion and coherence of the text is analyzed.Relevance Theory is of guiding significance to the translation of scientific and technological texts.The theory holds that translation is regarded as two processes of ostensive-inferential communication,and that the translator is the bridge between the original author and the target readers.In the process of translation,the translator should first accurately infer the intention according to the cognitive context of the original author.And then,with the cognitive context of the target readers fully considered,he should adopt appropriate translation strategies,techniques and methods to present the target text to the readers.Besides,a good translation is supposed to be in accordance with optimal relevance.
