| As the member of the Mong Khmer language family of the South Asian language family,Wa is an analytical language. It mainly uses function words and word order to express various grammatical meanings. Its grammatical structure is SVO type.Compared with Sino-Tibetan languages,South Asian languages have a lot of room for study. For more than one hundred years, the study of Wa language at home and abroad has been continuous.Up to now,the Wa Burauke dialect has been on the right track in terms of lexical syntax, phonological contrast between different dialects, typology of word order and some function words. In addition to the brief introduction in the early period, the study of Wa word category is now mainly based on the original corpus of a branch or dialect to describe a word category comprehensively. This paper focuses on the adverbs of degree in Burauke dialect of Wa language, systematically investigating the degree sequence of different adverbs of degree in Burauke dialect of Wa language, and the combination and syntactic function of adverbs of degree in different Wa language,as well as the grammaticalization process of adverbs of degree. This paper is divided into five chapters,of which the first chapter and the fifth chapter are respectively the introduction and conclusion. The contents of the second to fourth chapters are as follows:Chapter two classifies the adverbs of degree in Burauke dialect of Wa.In this paper, nearly 50 adverbs of degree in Burauke dialect of Wa were classified from the perspective of language unit size and internal structure. The adverbs of degree in Wa language have both simple and compound words. The Wa word for degree of compound can be either a combination of two adverbs of degree,a combination of adverbs of degree and other parts of speech,or a combination of two non-degree adverbs. From the perspective of degree sequence, adverbs of degree are divided into absolute adverbs of degree and relative adverbs of degree.Although different languages have slightly different specific methods of division due to the French-language factors,it is still the most direct and effective way to know the adverbs of degree in a language. In Burauke dialect of Wa,adverbs of relative degree can be divided into four levels: superlative, higher, and comparative.Lower level.Adverbs of absolute degree can also be divided into excessive level, very high level, low level, low level.Chapter three describes the combination of degree adverbs in Burauke dialect of Wa.As an analytical language, adverbs of degree in Wa are characterized by their unfixed positions. In the combination structure of adverbs of degree and central language, some adverbs of degree can appear before, some adverbs of degree can appear after, and some adverbs of degree can appear either before or after the central language. But specific to a certain degree of adverb, its position is fixed;Like adverbs of degree in other languages, adverbs of degree in Burauke dialect of Wa language mainly modify verbs and adjectives, but some adverbs of degree can also modify nouns. When adverbs of degree and nouns are combined, the grammatical unit after combination is no longer a phrase in the form, but a more commonly used and closely structured word.Chapter four describes the syntactic function of degree adverbs in Burauke dialect of Wa.This chapter not only discusses the syntactic function of degree adverbs in Burak dialect, but also discusses the syntactic function of the adverbs of degree in the phrasal phrase in which these adverbs of degree participate. In addition, this chapter also discusses the syntactic function of the adverbs of degree used only in contrast sentences and their participation in the evolution of contrast sentences in idiomatic expressions. This chapter also discusses the origin of some adverbs of degree in Burauke dialect of Wa language. It is found that the evolution and formation of a certain adverb of degree in Wa language may be the result of grammaticalization of adjectives, the interaction of adverbs of different categories,or the formation of a new degree in the process of using the adverb of degree. Some typical Wa adverbs of degree are derived from descriptive lexicalization.Due to the limited corpus or unclear path,we can only discuss the grammaticalization process of the widely used adverbs of degree, while it is difficult to trace the source of other words. Therefore, these grammaticalization studies are not put into a separate section, but the evolution of the word is discussed immediately after the description of its syntactic function. In addition, the Wa contrast sentence is also an important sentence pattern to study the adverb of degree. The modern Wa contrast sentence has a relatively fixed structure and sufficient semantic connotation, but the adverb of degree as a comparison difference did not appear in the Wa contrast sentence at the beginning. As can be seen from Wa idioms, adverbs of degree participate in contrast sentences in a process, which is finally established after repeated changes of different structures. In the past,Burake dialect and Wa dialect were the most popular studies of Wa language.Although the reasons are detailed and clear, they are all specific and elaborate linguistic phenomena. The systematic studies of phonetics and speech classes are still insufficient,so the basic work of Wa language studies is not as good as that of the Sino-Tibetan languages. This paper not only investigates the language usage of native speakers of Burauke dialect, but also extensively collects papers and Wa language corpus about Wa adverbs of degree. It not only compares the corpus and discourse in existing books and publications to confirm each other, but also focuses on native speakers’ different expression habits and different understandings of sentences. To a certain extent, the Wa language has been combed and enriched. |
