A Study On The Social Adaptation Of Returned Overseas Chinese From Myanmar In Nanning,Guangxi

The returned overseas Chinese from Myanmar in Nanning,Guangxi are mainly young students who returned to China for education in 1960 s.Under the proper arrangement of government departments at all levels,they settled down in Nanning through studying in overseas Chinese cram school,the experience of educated youth working in the countryside,and the arrangement of work by the government.Still,some people who had not adapt well left Nanning under suitable conditions then moved to Hong Kong,Macau and other places.For those who stayed in Nanning,sound education,social practices and social life experiences endow them with better adaptability and make them adapt to the local society well.A common experience of returning to study and living in China enhance their ties and emotional interactive.They intermarried with each other,formed their own association,and maintained their Myanmar-feature language,culture and living habits.In 2004,the ChinaASEAN Expo permanently settled in Nanning,offering the brand new social space and platform for the returned overseas Chinese from Myanmar who know Myanmar language and Myanmar culture.They served the China-ASEAN Expo,associated with Myanmar youth and students who came to Nanning,occupied as Myanmar language teachers in the universities,and helped the Consulate General of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar in Nanning.They have contributed to the promotion of friendship and cultural exchange between China and Myanmar.They create new social value while further adapting and integrating into society,and show strong social adaptability and motivation.The returned overseas Chinese from Myanmar in Nanning have become an important bridge in the interactions between China and Myanmar.In the process of actively playing to their strengths and participating in various social activities,their sense of personal value and group identification are strengthened.
