Overseas Chinese education in northern Myanmar is focusing on the majority of the Chinese Communityin northern Myanmar to carry on the Chinese language learning and cultural heritage.To understand the northern Myanmar Situation of Overseas Chinese education,we must first get to know the Chinese community and Chinese schools in northern Myanmar.Northern Myanmar borders on China,with Myanmar Chinese peoples widely scattered,main in cities like Mandalay,Taunggyi,Lashio,Myitkyina,Mogok,Muse,Kengtung,Tachilek etc.,.Chinese(language)schools varies in running modes for specific conditions and market demands in northern Myanmar.At present,Chinese(language)teaching grows rapidly in northern Myanmar,there are all together as many as about 200 Chinese schools,with about 3,000 teachers.According to the 2014 data of China Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council,9 schools have been approved as "overseas Chinese education model schools" in northern Myanmar.Chinese schools in northern Myanmar are of different modes for thespecific geographical environment,historical reasons and social situation,etc..The Chinese communities as well as schools can be divided into different groups based on various regions and usage of Chinese language.In northern Myanmar,the Chinese are from different backgrounds,thus exists a great variety of pattern of Chinese schools.Different pattern of Chinese school in northern Myanmar are facing many difficulties,among which teacher's issue ranks No.1.It is important to continuously improve the level of teachersto eventually improve the general level of quality in the entire northern Myanmar Overseas Chinese education,with improving teacher'scompetence the key to the entire of Overseas Chinese education in northern Myanmar.Northern Myanmar Chinese schools often send teachers to distance education courses,short term courses,relying on various forms of Chinese expatriate teachers to train local Chinese teachers.At present,Chinese school textbooks used in northern Myanmar are mainly HANYU and its' accessorialteaching materials while many other Chinese schools are using textbooks from Taiwan.Almost all the Chinese language schools are faced with difficulties such as the diversification of students,authority of textbook compilation units,practicality,value system coherence reliability,difficulty for textbook transportation,etc.In recent years,the prospect of Chinese Education development in northern Myanmar is facing a great opportunity.To achieve the transformation and upgrading of Chinese schools in northern Myanmar,standardization,professional development,to service "One belt One Road" programme,"BCIM economic corridor" for South Asia & Southeast Asia and other national strategies,and the promotion of relations between China and Myanmar,Chinese education should be integrated into the mainstream people,for long-term survival,based on social,sustainable development,making the Overseas Chinese education a positive energy relations.
