This article aims to analyze and study the content and function of monologue animation,and take Japanese director Makoto Shinkai as an example to conduct an in-depth discussion.First of all,through the collection and arrangement,I have a preliminary definition and understanding of animation monologues,analyze the significance of animation monologues in different animation scenarios,and strengthen the understanding of the role of monologues in film production.Point out the common form of "monologue" in animation,usually accompanied by extreme pictures and suitable sound effects,which can guide the audience to think deeply.Secondly,through the analysis and research of Makoto Shinkai’s representative works such as "She and Her Cat","Beyond the Cloud,the Promised Place","5Centimeters Per Second","Your Name",etc.,the "Makoto Shinkai Monologue" is deeply analyzed.The cause of formation,specific analysis of the application and common methods of monologues from early animation to trilogy to masterpieces,and exploration of the formation of intersecting monologues,the sublimation of monologue poeticization,and the formation process of Makoto Shinkai’s personal monologues.Discusses the use and effect of monologues in animation in his works.The animation monologues in Xin Haicheng’s works are not only the communication between characters,but also an effective means of expressing emotions,depicting scenery,and conveying themes.In his works,monologue-style animations are organically combined with other elements such as music and images,and jointly build a story world full of emotion and meaning.Finally,this article also discusses how monologue animation should be applied,its limitations and future development prospects.Future research can explore how to make better use of the characteristics of monologue animation,avoid its limitations,and explore new forms of expression and innovative means.
