The trend towards globalisation is increasing interaction between countries and cultures.As culture,art and concepts undergo subtle penetration,the unique artistic activities of ethnic minorities are facing different degrees of extinction and their survival environment is under serious threat.At this time,a number of films focusing on ethnic art activities have emerged,using colorful ethnic art activities as a carrier,recording an allegorical story of changes in the hearts of ethnic artists,telling the intrinsic relationship between ethnic art and traditional culture,and realizing a salvage type of writing on the cultural diversity of ethnic groups.At the same time,the film’s realistic record of the modern dilemma of art and its focused reflection on the life and cultural memory of the ethnic groups make the film quite meaningful as an ethnographic writing.The main part of the article focuses on films about artistic creative activities and artists’ lives as themes in ethnic minority films since 2000.mainly focusing on "Qingzuitulufan"(Uygur song and dance),"The Silent Holy Stones"(Tibetan opera),"Anayi"(Dong minority big song),"Urtin Duu"(Mongolian music),"Zhandanzhao"(Mongolian Khoomei),"Flower"(Kazakh aytes,or akhen playing and singing),"Soul Searching"(Tibetan opera)and "Thang ka"(Tibetan painting).Guided by the cultural criticism methods of anthropology and ethnography,the article focuses on the deep depiction of symbolic elements such as ceremonial rituals,religious mythology,and song and dance art in ethnic minority art-themed films,analyzes their writing at the level of cultural allegory,and then explores the role ethnic art assumes in the cultural representation of ethnic groups.The first chapter summarizes the new phenomena in the development of ethnic minority films since the 21 st century.In the current context of globalization,ethnic minority images have increasingly brought colorful ethnic art onto the screen,highlighting the rich cultural life of various ethnic groups.The new phenomena that have emerged are mainly manifested in the shift from the narrative of others to the perspective within the ethnic group,the focus on the contradiction between ethnic traditions and modern aesthetics,and the exploration of the essence of art under individual emotional changes.The second chapter analyzes the deep cultural significance behind the detailed depiction of myths,rituals,and dance cultural scenes in ethnic art films based on Gertz’s deep description theory;Observe the three narrative methods used in the film to record ethnic life,behavioral concepts,and historical customs:ethnic style narrative,documentary,and polyphonic structure;Focusing on the shaping of female images by images,they either assume the heavy responsibility of cultural inheritance and become guardians of family and culture,or project their imagination of women’s modernization and become seekers of self growth.The third chapter analyzes the different writing angles of ethnic art theme films at the level of cultural fables.Based on spatial construction,the director forms a conflict fable of escape and persistence,a realistic fable of using image reality to achieve psychological reality,and its profound implication for the disappearance and concealment of modern urban space;As the image text of the Third World,the fate of individual characters is always closely related to the fate of ethnic groups.The vivid life experiences of ethnic artists are used to write modern fables of ethnic culture.The fourth chapter explores the role of diverse artistic activities in ethnic culture from the perspective of cultural research.Ethnic art is deeply rooted in the cultural system of a specific ethnic group,with cultural representations such as metaphor of survival concepts,pursuit of the spiritual world,and filling in spiritual gaps.It is a history of ethnic culture with rich sensibility;Based on anthropologists’ descriptions of rescue ethnography,this paper analyzes the cultural characteristics of the artistic activities selected by the director,that is,the loss of tradition on the one hand and the perpetuation of spirit on the other,and suggests the theme through some surreal metaphors in a realistic tone;Understanding the director’s ethnographic record of the current artistic situation at the level of allegory,expressing the ethnic cultural crisis through the allegory of artistic difficulties,and evoking the memory of the community about the ethnic spirit through the image details of life flow. |
