As a kind of love song in the southern dialect area of the Dong ethnic group,“Pipage”[al bic bac] is often sung in two folk activities of “Song and Moon” or “Weiye”[weex yeek].In the traditional society, the Dong ethnic group,as an “acquaintance society”,has neither the establishment of schools to write the tradition nor the modern significance, which makes the mode of cultural transmission present a typical pattern of “practical grasp”.Traditionally,Dong adults teach their children the local culture by “teaching them by words and deeds”,and the way of inheritance also reflects the characteristics of export inheritance.Since “Pipage”is difficult to be passed on well in modern society, the Congjiang County Ethnic Cultural Training Institute, founded by Wu Shilong,Liang Hongxiang,Liang Jinyuan and other singers, combines oral instruction and musical transmission to promote the teaching concept of "teaching without class",which has changed the idea that only men play Musical Instruments in the past. The establishment of classes with ethnic characteristics in universities has attracted many young people to learn “Pipage” as a way to further their studies. However,in the process of the development of the training center, the adaptation of traditional “Pipage”has caused quite a lot of disputes. The abandonment of the mode centered on village inheritance makes learners unable to get the infiltration of culture, which makes the inheritance of the training center face challenges. The singers gradually return to the village and continue to carry out inheritance in the village as a unit.No matter in traditional society or modern society,Dong ethnic groups complete inter-village communication by singing“Pipage” during “Song and Moon”,and use the same musical style as the mark of the group to draw the boundary between different styles. At the same time, they can also achieve self-identification and regain their identity by singing “Pipage”.The rhythmical form of“Pipage” is nothing but a symbolic symbol, and the ethnic consciousness implied by these symbols is the most core content.
