At present,China’s rural areas are facing development opportunities,and the return of youth groups has become the trend."The Returning Youth" is a character documentary recording the current situation of the returned youth group.The work focuses on three returned youth in Weizhou Island,Beihai,Guangxi.They are Yang Chengteng,who returned to his hometown island for rural tourism development after finishing college in Beijing.Dai Shiqiong,who returned to his hometown to develop banana planting and processing after abandoning his urban hospital work.Huang Shiwu,who took root in the countryside and engaged in marine pearl cultivation.The film revolves around the story of the three protagonists’ return to their hometown and tells them why they returned from the city to the countryside and their real experiences in the process of returning to their hometown.It aims to arouse people’s attention and thinking about the survival status of the returned youth groups,and also provides reference value for the young generation who want to return to their hometown for development.The film is shot in a participatory way,living with the returning heroes,and following the three heroes to participate in various activities and record on the spot,but without interference and intervention,trying to record the original ecology.In the narrative,the first-person narrative perspective is adopted,and the right to speak is given to the protagonist in the event.The whole film does not use the narration,but presents the story in the way of the person who has experienced it.In the form of presentation,the micro documentary technique is used.Each host shares about 10 minutes for concentrated narration,and strives to be short,compact,and exquisite.The creative elaboration analyzes the documentary "The Returning Youth" from six parts.The first part is the introduction,which introduces the background,significance,creative purpose,innovation,creative research methods and relevant literature review of the documentary;The second part describes the creation process,including the selection of topics,the determination of characters,the interpretation of themes,the formulation of plans in the early planning stage,the selection of shooting methods and equipment in the middle shooting stage,the arrangement of materials and film editing in the post-production stage;The third part analyzes the narrative perspective,narrative theme,narrative structure and narrative rhythm of the film by using the relevant theories of narratology,and discusses the narrative strategy of the film;The fourth part makes a deep analysis of the audio-visual language of the film from the two aspects of picture language and sound language;The fifth part explains the value embodiment of this documentary from three aspects: social value,humanistic value,and artistic value;The sixth part summarizes and reflects on the creative process of this graduation work.
