Characterization Research In Martial Arts Documentaries

Martial arts are an important component of traditional Chinese culture.Martial arts themed documentaries mainly focus on the performance methods of traditional Chinese martial arts,the historical and cultural evolution of martial arts,and the inheritance of martial arts techniques.They use images and are supplemented by certain literary expressions to showcase martial arts to the public.A documentary aimed at the public should focus more on humanistic emotions and social issues in its topic selection.This paper strives to start from the feasibility of practical operation,emphasizing the important role of character image shaping in martial arts themed documentaries,and not only staying at the theoretical and academic research level of character image shaping,but also exploring the methods of character image shaping in martial arts themed documentaries based on the existing theories of martial arts themed documentaries in practice.The problems and difficulties encountered in the process of filming the graduation work documentary "Chinese Youth" are not only the key points to be solved through practical creation,but also the focus of this article’s research.This article is divided into four parts.The first part is an introduction,which elaborates on the research background,significance,ideas,and methods.The second part provides an overview of the creation of martial arts themed documentaries,analyzes the creative characteristics,character image evolution,and characteristics of martial arts themed documentaries,and expresses the artistic and social value of the topic.The third part is an overview of the topic selection for the graduation work "Chinese Youth" and an introduction to the presentation methods of the character images in the work.The fourth part elaborates on the strategy of character shaping in "Chinese Youth",introducing how to shape the character image of martial arts themed documentaries from three aspects: narrative shaping,narrative space,and audio-visual.The author hopes that the research results based on the past three years of practical creation can provide new ideas and perspectives for the study of similar types of creation.
