In his "History of Calligraphy and Seal Cutting in the Republic of China",Sun Xun classified the calligraphy of the Republic of China into five major schools: Wu School by Wu Changshuo,Zheng School by Zheng Xiaoxu,Kang School by Kang Youwei,Li School by Li Ruiqing, and Yu School by Yu Youren. These schools were divided by later generations based on the actual situation in the calligraphy industry at that time. From the perspective of the relationship between teachers and successors and their influence on later generations, the "Li School" is undoubtedly the outstanding among these five major schools.Li Ruiqing, along with his disciples Lv Fengzi,Hu Xiaoshi,Li Jian,Zhang Daqian, and his disciples You Shou, had a crucial impact on the inheritance and development of modern Chinese calligraphy. The Jin Shi Calligraphy School was an important school in the stele study system of the late Qing and early Republic of China. This article analyzes Li Ruiqing and his disciples. At the end of the last century,Fu Aiguo,a student of Hu Xiaoshi, wrote an article proposing the "Jinshi Calligraphy School",which analyzed Hu Xiaoshi’s achievements in calligraphy and its impact on future generations, and analyzed the consistent characteristics of the "Jinshi Calligraphy School".After naming the "Jin Shi Shu School",He Yunao clarified in his book "The Significance of Archaeology to"Chinese Calligraphy "that the origin of this school of calligraphy was the study of Jin Shi archaeology, claiming that it shone in later generations and was inspired by those who came.Wang Limin praised Li Ruiqing’s philosophy of "seeking seal script in gold, and seeking subordinate script in stone" as the guide of his calligraphy school. In the preface to "The Collection of Qing Taoist Relics",Duan Xiaohua named Li Ruiqing as a representative figure of the "Jin Shi School" in the history of calligraphy in the 20 th century. In the calligraphy education activities of Qing Daoists and their disciples, through the research and exploration of oracle bones and inscriptions on gold, they sought to identify the Yin and Zhou inscriptions as the source of calligraphy history. They also included oracle bones, the Three Dynasties Zhong Ding, the cliff stone carvings of the Two Han Dynasties, and the Qin and Han bamboo slips as the subjects of my study, thus reflecting the era characteristics of gold and stone in the study of calligraphy in the late Qing and early Republic of China. Therefore, the author chooses Li Ruiqing and his disciples as the research objects, and also uses the name "Jinshi Calligraphy School" to refer to this group.By analyzing the unique calligraphy features generated by their academic origins and conceptual levels, from different perspectives, the author aims to deeply and multi-dimensionally demonstrate the connotations expressed in their calligraphy and the factors that led to the emergence of this school.
