Chang Wang(1725-1806)is from Qingpu(Shanghai today).He is a famous scholar in the Qianlong and Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty.He is proficient in poems,Confucian Classics,epigraphy,etc.He authors?Jin Shi Cui Bian?which compiles one hundred and sixty volumes.This thesis mainly studies the background,writing process and the content of the book.The thesis also try to find the relationship between?Jin Shi Cui Bian?and the resurgence of Tablet-calligraphy in Qing Dynasty.In the Introduction,it analyses the significance,status and key difficulties of the research and explains the scope of research.The first chapter of this paper mainly introduces Chang Wang's life and the background of the book.The writer's own conditions and the Times have made the foundation of its compilation.The second chapter explains the formation process of the book from these aspects:the origin of book,the collection and textual research of the rubbings,the collection and sorting of the tablet's description,the proofreading and compiling.In the third chapter,it analyzes the issues of the edition,the compilation and the thoughts of the tablet-calligraphy in the book.The fourth chapter is the key part of the thesis,mainly discusses the relationship between the revival of the tablet and?Jin Shi Cui Bian?.First,tablet-calligraphy's beginning provides the necessary conditions for the formation of the book.Second,during the compiling of the book,Chang Wang' activities with his friends promoted the spread and development of tablet-calligraphy.Finally,after the book was written,its dissemination and acceptance also greatly promoted the development of the tablet-calligraphy.The fifth chapter of this paper is the conclusion,which mainly discusses the influence of?Jin Shi Cui Bian?on epigraphy and its relationship with the resurgence of Tablet-calligraphy.
