As the primary site of social aesthetic education,small and medium-sized art museums play an essential role in the aesthetic education of the community.The challenge facing small and medium-sized art museums today is to make full use of their own advantages,develop special aesthetic education functions,and meet the the public’s growing needs for aesthetic education.In this context,this study attempts to use virtual reality technology to implement special aesthetic education practices and explore aesthetic education development in small and medium-sized art museums.The study begins with an overview of aesthetic education in small and medium-sized art museums and analyses the current situation and development prospects of small and medium-sized art museums in China.Then,by analyzing the theoretical basis of the application of virtual reality technology in the aesthetic education of art museums and the application value of virtual reality technology in the aesthetic education of small and medium-sized art museums,it explores the practical significance of the application of virtual reality technology in the aesthetic education of small and medium-sized art museums.Based on the theoretical foundation of the previous article,the study takes Liu Jiang Art Museum as an example to implement the characteristic practice of aesthetic education supported by virtual reality technology.Through field research and analysis,research is conducted on the art museum space,the works in the collection,and the people it addresses,and a practice plan for virtual reality-supported art museum aesthetic education is developed according to local conditions.Finally,the results obtained from the aesthetic education practice in Liu Jiang Art Museum are summarized and analyzed.It is found that the application of virtual reality technology contributed significantly to the expansion of the exhibition space and the improvement of the aesthetic education function of the art museum.The main interest of this study is to explore the development path of aesthetic education for small and medium-sized art museums through the introduction of virtual reality technology and the practice of improving the aesthetic education function and the influence of aesthetic education in small and medium-sized art museums,to serve as a reference for other small and medium-sized art museums to explore the related technology and overcome the development bottleneck.
