Museum is a non-profit permanent institution serving the public for study, education, and appreciation purposes with values and interesting collections. It improved people’s value of beauty, enriches people’s psychical life, and most importantly foster an enlightened and healthy civilization by exhibited those protected collections. Therefore, Museum is one of the most indispensable organizations who contribute to shaping brilliant civilization and social development.As we known, today in China, museum markets are blooming with a great number of big museums which requires huge amount of investment, and functioned in obsolete managing model. Scarce collections and lacked of professional management talents could not satisfy people’s increasing needs to culture. For this reason, the author devoted to figure out a new solution to satisfy people’s desire of enjoying the beauty of civilization, by combining the researches of foreign museums’types and functioned models and considerations of our own national environment.Meanwhile, the author would put Chinese contemporary museums study into researching range, especially the function model and potential crisis of Chinese small contemporary museums. Comparing with foreign museum cases, the author analyzed and come up with some suggestions based on the experiences that would benefit the revolution of Chinese museum. By integrating and optimizing those suggestions into one model—mall museum, readers would have a clearer and more thoroughly view of what an effective museum model is in China.In the end of this essay, the author advocate the government should make the best use of its nature of dominating the market in order to build more small museums and keep them operated healthy.It is undeniable that small museum in china is still a new tendency which means there are a lot of difficulties and challenges that have to face. In another side, it is a great developmental opportunity. As long as keeping an open-mind with indigenous perspective and a principle of taking foreign museum’s essence, it is not surprised to find a new way out to universalizing Chinese contemporary museums. It is also possible that what suggestion this essay provided may not works out and lead to success, but it still bring some fresh air and possibility of new age. Only after continued trying and exploring the way of double development of reforming Chinese museum model and foster civilized publics, Chinese contemporary museums could finally survive and achieve its own value.
