| "Sight precedes language.Children watch first, then recognize them, and then speak." It is the most frequently quoted quotation by John Berg in his book "Ways Of Seeing".As a way of watching with subjective emotion,"Peeping" involves privacy and exposure, which vents and satisfies people’s inner desire for peeping, and thus leads to the audience’s thinking about the power, subject and object of viewing. Therefore, the perspective of "Peeping" is constantly mentioned in the history of art and repeatedly presented in works of art.The attraction of "Peeping" comes from its universality, secrecy and complexity.Freud,a famous psychologist, believes that everyone has the desire to spy on others in his subconscious. This kind of curiosity is innate and is a primitive impulse of human beings.Under the social background of different periods, artists have different ways to present the perspective of "Peeping",and the theme, composition and color of "Peeping" are also the great charm of expressing this special way of viewing. On the one hand, the painting with the perspective of "Peeping" reflects how the artist observes the world in a specific environment, and on the other hand,it shows the contradiction between human ethics and desire, which is a form of expression of collision and communication with the audience.Starting from the works of Edgar Degas,Eric Fisher and Caroline Walker, this paper will analyze and compare the performance of this component of "Peeping" on the artist’s canvas by collecting and sorting out relevant artistic theories.as well as the social problems they face and the artistic effect and social value of their works in their respective contexts, and then extend the aesthetic significance of "Peeping". |
