Building And Maintaining Ethnic Identity In The Rituals Of The Festival

In this article,the “Shuoru" festival ceremony on the twenty-four day of the sixth lunar month of the Yizu branch of Yunnan is taken as the point of observation,and presents the basic structure of the ethnic identity of the “Taliuren” based on the exploration of the central region,the mechanism for acquiring and constructing and operating ethnic identity,and discusses the "what is identity" "how to construct" and"how to maintain" of the ethnic group.This article draws on field research,interviews,and participatory observations to summarise the ethnic identity characteristics of“Taliuren” and to sort out the basic logic of their ethnic identity structure.Building on this foundation,this article responds to the contestation between "native" and"constructed" in ethnic identity research theory,complementing the case study of ethnic minority identity in ethnic regions,providing thought for the protection and legacy of traditional ethnic minority culture,in the study of the crisis of ethnic identity,and in understanding the complexity and change of ethnic minority identity.In particular,the article consists of six sections.First,we explain the context of the current research and outline the framework and ideas of the article.The second part portrays the overall outline of the ritual of his festival "Shuoru".Sections 3-5constitute the main body of the paper.Answering the question "what is it that he identifies with?","how do members of the Taliuren ethnic group construct an ethnic identity" and "how is the identity of other ethnic groups maintained" by explaining the mechanism of how the identity of the remaining ethnic group works.Part six is a summary and discussion section,summarising,responding,and continuing existing research.The results of this study show that: firstly,the ethnic identity of the Taliuren is a typical ethnic identity based on blood and common ethnicity through the ceremony of the festival on the twenty-four day of the sixth month of the lunar calendar as an expression of the pre-endowed ethnic identity.Due to the changes of the times,in the field in which the "other" appears,the ritual of the "Shuoru" festival still retains its uniqueness,which is a type of ethnic identity that sets up a new mechanism on top of the old tradition and is constantly being built up with the development of the times and the needs of the ethnic group.Secondly,it left the core of ethnic identity and gave rise to a system of construction,and in order to maintain the stability of this system,it drove a set of operating mechanisms,and eventually returned to the nucleus,forming a stable triangular cycle between the three systems.Thirdly,the origin of the group came from the original factor,and through a series of methods of construction it eventually settled on the original factor,and its basic essence is "to respond to all change with immutability".No longer does the core change,and with the development of the times,it gives it a new meaning,on the basis of which it also realizes the internal cycle between the two factors of ethnic identity and ethnic construction.
