Collaborative problem-solving ability is a core competency in the 21 st century, which is not only required for social personnel, but also a core competency that all students, especially college students, must possess. However, contrary to the urgent needs of society, most college students lack this ability,so cultivating their collaborative problem-solving ability is crucial. However, due to the potential inconsistency in the development of collaborative problem-solving abilities among different students, appropriate evaluation tools are needed to scientifically evaluate the current situation of college students’ collaborative problem-solving abilities and cultivate them accordingly. In response to the current status of research on collaborative problem-solving ability, this study combines the essence of collaborative problem-solving ability and develops a set of collaborative problem-solving ability evaluation tools that are suitable for college students and can demonstrate their true abilities, based on the evidence center model. This article mainly includes three studies: Study 1: Translate the framework of the Assessment and Teaching of 21 st Century Skills Project(ATC21S)into specific operational indicators, create a task model based on this, verify tool quality through testing, and verify the validity of the evaluation tool;Study 2 explored the differences in the structure and intensity of cooperative problem-solving abilities among different categories of college students through social and cognitive network analysis.Study 3 explored the relationship between the Big Five personality, cooperative and competitive personality, only child, and group similarity with cooperative problem-solving ability, and explored how each factor affects cooperative problem-solving ability,as well as the magnitude of their effects; The specific research results are as follows:(1)Referring to the framework of ATC21 S,the total capability was decomposed into 13 specific actionable indicators, and after adding outcome indicators,a game based task model was developed based on the evidence model. After conducting tests on a small number of college students and adjusting for bugs in the game,a collaborative problem-solving ability assessment tool for college students has been developed.Through the analysis of 116 subjects’ data, the item response theory(IRT)analysis results show that the structure of college students’ cooperative problem-solving ability is reasonable and has good structural validity;Based on the collaboration ability scale and problem-solving ability questionnaire,it was found that the calibration validity of this evaluation system is good;In addition, each indicator performs well in terms of difficulty and differentiation, which meets the standards of measurement; Finally, this evaluation tool is not affected by past gaming experience and can effectively evaluate the collaborative problem-solving ability of various types of college students. Therefore, the quality of the evaluation tool for collaborative problem-solving ability of college students developed in this study is relatively high.(2)Using the developed tool for evaluating the collaborative problem-solving ability of college students and the social and cognitive network analysis method, this study analyzed the current situation of collaborative problem-solving ability of college students at the individual level, its relationship with group status and personality, and its category characteristics. At the same time,it also analyzed the differences in category characteristics between positive and negative groups at the group level.College students’ ability to solve cooperative problems is not high and needs to be cultivated and improved. In terms of group status differences, the central members have higher connection strength than the edge members in various nodes;College students with advantages in cooperation orientation and competitive orientation have their own characteristics in their ability to solve cooperative problems; The forward team focuses on resource management and establishes stronger connections with other nodes.(3)Through path analysis, this study explores the effects of Big Five personality, cooperation and competition tendency personality, single child, and team similarity on college students’ collaborative problem-solving ability from both individual and group perspectives. At the individual level, openness positively predicts college students’ cooperative problem-solving ability through cooperative and competitive tendencies, and only child plays a moderating role in the first half of the path of openness competitive tendencies college students’ cooperative problem-solving ability;Extraversion positively predicts college students’ cooperative problem-solving ability through their cooperative tendency personality. At the group level, the more dissimilar individuals form a group, the greater the gain it brings to the ability to solve cooperative problems.
