Graphical representation plays an important role in understanding of the abstract problems.It is an important tool for assisting students to representant correctly.it needs good visual space ability and cognitive flexibility to understand and applicate the graphic representation, only in this way, we can make up each element of issue to solve problems correctly.Experimental material is self-constructed physical tests of senior high school freshman in this study . Pre experiment is carried out primarily, we explore the diffculty of each test,the time to be used in each test and average scores of students, the results are used to choose tests and control test time for formal experiments.The formal experimants consist of two parts. In studyâ… , investigate Experimental simple diagram, force diagram and function diagram how to influence the different cognitive flexibility of Freshman physical problem. In studyâ…¡, mainly inspects visual space ability and cognitive flexibility how to influence. high student physical problem solving. Formal experimental subjects were 192 , which are freshmen from thirteen classes of some senior high school. According to cognitive flexibility level and visual space ability, we dedided two groups.Experiment used the"Wisconsin card classification test"to test students' cognitive flexibility, used the"middle-school student space graphics cognitive assessment"to test visual space ability of students.we used some physics and mechanics problems as experimental material . Experimental conclusion were obtained: (1)There were significant difference among three representation mode physical problem when solving problems. We get the best result using force diagram.; problem-solving grades was the second using simple diagram, we get lowest score using function diagram.(2)The difference of the three representation mode physical problem was not significant when solving simple problems, but it was significant difference in solving difficult problems .(3)The scores of high cognitive flexibility were significantly better than that of low cognitive flexibility, and this difference was significant in solving difficult problems, in solving easy problems it was not significant.(4)The scores of high visual space ability were significantly better than that of low visual space ability, this difference was significant in solving difficult problems and not significant in solving easy problems.
