The earliest Chinese piano works based on ancient poems were created in 1932,and their appearance marked a milestone in the field of Chinese piano music composition.Prior to this, renowned music aesthetician and composer Qing Zhu created China’s first art song based on an ancient poem,"The Great River Flows East," in 1920,and more and more art songs based on ancient poems were introduced. These works laid the foundation for the early development of piano pieces like "Nostalgia," which combined poetry with piano music. The combination not only continued and promoted the essence of traditional Chinese culture, but also diversified the development of piano music culture. This paper selected ten Chinese piano works based on ancient poems(such as "Nostalgia" by Li Shuhua,"New Willow Shade" by Zhou Wenzhong," The King of Qin Drinking Wine" and "Dreaming of Heaven" by Wang Lisan,"Chopping Sandalwood" and "Night Duty" by Cao Guangping,"After Visiting a Buddhist Monastery on a Mountain After It Rained" and "Song of the Frontier Guards" by Xu Zhenmin,"Winter Snow" by Gao Weijie, and "Impression of Tang Poetry-From ’Night Mooring at Maple Bridge’" by Yang Zhihua)as research objects, intending to explore the aesthetic appeal and creative characteristics of the integration of ancient poetry and piano music from multiple perspectives. This thesis consists of three parts: an introduction, main body, and conclusion. The introduction mainly explains the research significance, scope, status, methods, and defines relevant concepts, laying a solid theoretical foundation for the writing of the paper. The main body includes four chapters.Chapter One starts with the expression of poetic sentiment in Western piano works and introduces ancient poetry and culture in Chinese piano works, linking the development of Chinese piano music based on ancient poetry over time.Chapter Two classifies the ten works according to the content and artistic conception of the ancient poems, understanding the different styles of piano works corresponding to various types of ancient poems.Chapter Three analyzes the ontology of music, exploring how composers integrate piano music with the cultural connotations of ancient poetry through aspects such as musical form, melodic technique, rhythm, and harmony.Chapter Four mainly provides technical interpretation of the performances of piano works based on ancient poems based on the analysis of ontology of music in Chapter Three, demonstrating how to better express poetic meanings through piano performances. Finally, the conclusion summarizes the entire paper, demonstrating the important position and value of Chinese piano works based on ancient poems in the development of Chinese piano music. |
