Purpose:To investigate the temporal relationship between acupuncture at Tongtian acupuncture point for the treatment of allergic rhinitis,to observe whether there is a difference in the clinical efficacy of the treatment of allergic rhinitis under two different acupuncture frequencies: continuous acupuncture and alternate acupuncture,to provide data support for the study of the temporal relationship from the perspective of different frequencies of acupuncture for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, and to provide new ideas for the treatment of allergic rhinitis with acupuncture.Material and method:Seventy patients with allergic rhinitis were collected and randomly divided into treatment group 1 and treatment group 2 using the spss25.0 software system. The acupuncture points used in treatment group 1 were Tongtian point(double),Yintang point,Yingxiang point(double),Hegu point(double)and Zusanli point(double). The needles were left in place for 30 minutes and treatment continued daily 6 times a week.(1 needle per day from Monday to Saturday, resting on Sunday). The acupuncture points selected, method of placement, surgical procedure and needle residence time in treatment group 2 were the same as in treatment group 1,and the frequency of acupuncture treatment was once every other day, three times a week. The frequency of acupuncture treatment was once every other day, three times a week(treatment on Monday,Wednesday and Friday, rest the rest of the week). Both groups were treated for 2 weeks, for a total of 2 courses of treatment.Nasal symptom scores, concomitant symptoms and quality of life scores collected from both groups were analysed using SPSS25.0 after 1 course of treatment,2 courses of treatment and a follow-up period, respectively,to assess and compare differences in acupuncture efficacy between the two groups. The immediate change in nasal congestion symptom score was also compared between the two groups before and after the first acupuncture point in each treatment session, and the immediate effect of Tongtian acupuncture point on the treatment of nasal congestion in allergic rhinitis was assessed using SPSS25.0.Results:1.When comparing gender, age, duration of illness and scores of nasal symptoms, associated symptoms and quality of life of the two groups before treatment, the differences were not statistically significant(p>0.05)and were comparable.2.After two courses of acupuncture treatment, there was a significant difference between the two groups in terms of improvement in nasal symptoms, associated symptoms and quality of life compared with those before treatment(p<0.01),indicating that both continuous and alternating daily acupuncture were effective.3.At the end of the 1 course of treatment, comparing the two groups in terms of overall nasal symptoms and their symptom scores, associated symptoms and overall quality of life and their aspects, continuous acupuncture was better than the alternating acupuncture group in reducing nasal symptom scores, quality of life scores and the items "activity",“nasal symptoms”,“practical problems”and "emotions" in the table(p<0.05);in reducing symptom scores, accompanying symptom scores and quality of life scores in the nasal symptoms table The efficacy of the group was comparable to that of the alternating acupuncture group for "ocular symptoms",“non-nasal/ocular symptoms”and "sleep" in reducing nasal symptom scores, accompanying symptom scores and quality of life scores, with no statistically significant difference(p>0.05).4.After two treatment sessions, the differences were not statistically significant(p>0.05)when comparing the nasal symptom score and symptom table score, comorbid symptom score and summary table and the quality of life tables between the two groups.5.In the follow-up period, there was no statistically significant difference(p>0.05)between the two groups when comparing the total nasal symptom scale and symptoms on the scale, the concomitant symptom scale, the total quality of life scale, and the scores of various aspects on the scale.Conclusion:1.Both daily acupuncture and every-other-day acupuncture significantly improved nasal symptoms, concomitant symptoms and quality of life in patients with allergic rhinitis.2.After 2 weeks of acupuncture, continuous daily acupuncture was more effective than alternating daily acupuncture in improving nasal symptoms and overall quality of life,as well as“ activity”,“practical problems”,“nasal symptoms”and "emotions",while after 4 weeks of acupuncture, the effectiveness of continuous daily acupuncture was comparable to alternating daily acupuncture.3.Acupuncture at the Tongtian point had an immediate effect in improving the symptoms of nasal congestion in patients with allergic rhinitis.
