| Purpose: To discuss the functional mechanism of acupuncture and moxibustion on perennial allergic rhinitis through investigating the therapeutic effect on symptoms signs colour of nasal mucosa and Interleukin - 4 of the allergic rhinitis by acupuncture & moxibustion.Methods: 30 cases of perennial allergic rhinitis were selected with certain diagnostic standard. Choose the acupoints: Yingxiang (LOO, double ), Yintang (EX-HN3), Hegu (LI4, double) , Zusanli ( St 36, double ) were the main points, modified according to syndrome differentiation. Puncture the points of double LI20 and EX-HN3 with filliform needles of 1 cun and number 30, direct the needles on double LI20 to nasion, even reforcing and reducing after developing needle sensation, be sure to make needle sensation into nasal cavity; direct the needle downward on EX-HN3 into periost, even reforcing and reducing after developing needle sensation; Puncture perpendicularly the points of double LI4 and double St 36 with filiform needles of 1.5cun, reforcing by lifting, thrusting, twirlingand rotating after developing needle sensation, manipulating every 10 minutes. Do moxbustion above the route of EX-HN3-Du23-Du20, ignite a moxa stick (one every time on both sides) to apply on 1 cm above double St 36 during 20-30 minutes needles' retaining. 3 times a week, 15 times a course. Measure the items one day before treatment and after the course respectively as follows:(l)scoring according symptoms and signs.(2) Nasal mucosa observation: to observe the mucosa visibility, swelling or hyperemia conditions, or gloyp and polypoid change in the inferior and middle nasal conchas, nasal septum, etc with rhinoscope.(3)Measure Interleukin -4 of the patients by the method of ELISA.Results: (1)the main symptoms and sign of the patients are sneeze, discharge ,nasalobstruction, nasal itching ,pale and swelling nasal macosa before treatment.(2)the score of above symptoms decrease significantly (P<0.001) after treatment.(3)the total score of the symptoms and signs decrease significantly(P<0.001) after treatment (4)clinical effect: the statistic results show the therapeutic significance is 86.67%, efficiency is10% ,the total efficiency is 96.67% after one course of treatment.(5) Nasal mucosa observation under rhinoscope: pale or grey or light purple nasal mucosa; swelling turbinate; thin or thick discharge in the nasal cavity. The swelling nasal macosa better significantly after treatment(P<0.001).(6) Interleukin-4: Interleukin-4 of the patients decrease significantly after treatment(P<0.01)Conclusion: (l)The main symptoms and signs of perennial allergic rhinitis are as follows:sneeze, nasal obstruction, nasal itching, thin discharge ,pale and swelling nasal macosa,Acupuncture and Moxibustion has a marked function on bettering the symptoms and signs of the patients of perennial allergic rhinitis.(2) Acupuncture and Moxibustion can cure the allergic diseases I intermediated by IgE through decreasing IgE resulting from Interleukin - 4 decreasing, which show it is one of the great important roles on long effects.(3) Acupuncture and Moxibustion treat perennial allergic rhinitis mainly by topical and holistic regulating. (4) it is important to make practicable and sanitary steps in order to get stable effects while bettering the special constituent of the patitents is very difficult. |
