| The popularity of smartphones has made social networking sites an important habit in people’s lives.The real self-presentation of social networking sites as a common social website usage behavior has an important impact on individual psychosocial adaptation.At the same time,more and more college students are affected by depression,leading to a decline in social function,interpersonal communication and study life are also affected.The incident of college students who choose to commit suicide due to depression is more concerned by the society.Therefore,this study intends to explore the relationship between real self-presentation and depression on college students’ social networking sites and its internal mechanism in the context of Chinese culture.For school administrators and psychologists,it helps them to guide college students to use social networking sites reasonably,thus promoting the mental health of college students,reducing the probability of college students’ depression and the suicides of college students due to depression.For college students themselves,they can improve their mental health by adjusting their social networking habits,increasing their understanding of social support and self-harmony,and reducing the harm of depression to their mental health.460 college students randomly selected from Sichuan Normal University were tested using social website real self-presentation questionnaire,comprehension social support scale,self-consistency scale and flow adjustment center depression scale(CES-D),using SPSS23.0 and The SPSS macro program PROCESS compiled by Hayes processed the research data.The main conclusions of the study are as follows:(1)The true self-presentation of college students’ social networking sites is significantly negatively correlated with depression.The true self-presentation of social networking sites has a significant negative predictive effect on college students’ depression.(2)The true self-presentation of social networking sites can influence the depression of college students by comprehending the role of social support mediation.The true self-presentation of social networking sites is significantly positively correlated with comprehending social support,and the increase in perceived social support predicts the reduction of depression.(3)Comprehension of social support can influence depression through the intermediary role of self-harmony.There was a significant negative correlation between comprehension of social support and self-harmony scores,and self-harmony scores were significantly positively correlated with depression(The higher the self-harmony score,the lower the individual self-harmony).(4)The true self-presentation of social networking sites can influence college students’ depression by comprehending the chain mediation of social support and self-harmony. |
