The Relationship Between Self-presentation On Social Networking Sites And Online Altruism Among College Students: The Chain Mediating Role Of Online Social Support And Online Interpersonal Trust

Online altruism refers to the voluntary support,guidance,sharing,reminding and other behaviors that are beneficial to others and the society.Online altruism is affected by various factors.This study mainly discusses the influence of self-presentation on online altruism and the mediating effect of online interpersonal trust and online social support.In this study two universities in henan province,a total of 917 college students as the research object,with "the Internet altruistic behavior questionnaire","network selfpresentation questionnaire","Internet interpersonal trust questionnaire" and "network of social support questionnaire for investigation and study,analysis of college students’ group on social networking sites that self-presentation behavior and the present condition of the Internet altruistic behavior,It also studies the relationship between self-presentation on social networking sites,online altruism,online interpersonal trust and online social support of this group.The results are as follows:(1)There are significant differences in college students’ online altruism in gender,grade and major.The level of online guidance and online reminder of male students is significantly higher than that of female students,the level of online guidance of freshmen,sophomores and seniors is significantly higher than that of juniors,the level of online altruism of freshmen is significantly higher than that of juniors,and the level of online reminder of science students is significantly higher than that of liberal arts students.(2)There is significant difference in gender of college students’ self-presentation on social networking sites,but there is no significant difference in grade and major.Girls’ real self-presentation level and self-presentation level of social communication website were significantly higher than boys’.(3)Self-presentation,online interpersonal trust,online social support and online altruism are positively correlated.(4)Online interpersonal trust partially mediates the relationship between selfpresentation and online altruism,and online social support partially mediates the relationship between self-presentation and online altruism.(5)Online interpersonal trust and online social support play a chain mediating role between self-presentation and online altruism.The results of this study enrich the mechanism of social networking site use on online altruism of college students,and have important practical implications for the construction of Internet environment.
