A Research On The Development Of Chinese Character Proficiency Test Based On The New HSK Vocabulary List

The system of Chinese characters is the written symbol system that records Chinese language,and it is one of the important contents of Chinese language learning.Learning Chinese characters well is an important foundation to cultivate reading and writing ability.But for many Chinese learners,learning Chinese characters has the certain difficulty,therefore,in order to reduce the beginner’s fear of Chinese characters,some Chinese teaching programs or courses adopted a teaching method that minimize or delay the content of Chinese characters,or even only focus on listening and speaking.Such method has a great influence on students’ language competence and may stop them from going further to the senior level.The teaching of Chinese characters has been paid more attention with the development of international Chinese language education.However,in the existing HSK tests,the test of the ability of Chinese characters is basically combined with the test of writing or reading,and there is no special test to evaluate the ability of Chinese characters within learners studying Chinese as a second language.The purpose of this paper is to design and develop a Chinese character proficiency test for learners of other languages,providing an effective way method of assessing and testing Chinese character proficiency of learners.According to the new HSK vocabulary words table and level exam outline of Chinese characters sorted out by our project team,with reference of the related Chinese proficiency test both at home and abroad,this paper thoroughly analyses the design of Japanese Kanji Proficiency Test and designs question types in accordance with the Chinese exam outline developed by the team,writing sample questions at various levels and testing them through a small-scale test,providing a reference for the future development of standard Chinese level test and promoting the development of Chinese characters teaching.
