Foreign Language Achievement Test Questions Analytical Studies

Achievement test is a kind of most frequently used test. Scientific achievement tests play an important role in language teaching. Research collected show that the designing and using of different question types have a significant impact on the results of the achievement tests. We should choose appropriate question types for students of different levels before test design, so as to improve the reliability and validity of the achievement tests. However, currently teachers choose question types only based on their experiences. The research on question types in achievement test has not been attached much importance in teaching Chinese to speakers of other languages.Which kind of question type in achievement test is more effective for students in different languages grade level? What are the students’ attitudes towards various kinds of question types? Do students’ attitudes affect their scores? How about teachers’ attitudes towards different question types? In order to answer these questions, this paper analyzes the scores of test and different question types, as well as students and teachers questionnaire. Using alpha coefficient, construct validity and concurrent validity as standards, the paper examines the effectiveness of different question types and makes suggestion to the question types for different levels.Compared with other study of empirical research of Chinese or foreign Language achievement test, this research has the following characteristics:1. it collects original item types in a language learning organization instead of a certain kind of question type;2. it checks different kinds of question types in all levels from horizontal and longitudinal point of views;3. it investigates students and teachers’attitudes towards different kinds of questions types.
