English reading and writing are two important links in language teaching,and the integration of these two links also play an essential role in cultivating senior high school students’ comprehensive ability of using English language.Meanwhile,The English Curriculum Standards for General Senior High Schools(2020 edition)also clearly points out that teachers should establish the concept of practical English learning activities and advocates that teachers should design comprehensive,relevant and practical English learning activities to improve students’ English learning and application ability.However,the author learned from the preliminary investigation that the current situation of English writing teaching and learning in senior high school is not good and there is a common problem,that is teachers and students’ understanding about the relationship between reading and writing is integrated,but their practice in teaching,learning and application of reading and writing is separated.Under this situation,students’ English writing ability is difficult to be significantly improved in the usual writing training,thus reducing their writing confidence and affecting their interest in English writing.Based on the condition above,the author applied the integration of reading and writing mode to teach English writing,and conducted an action research which contains two rounds and lasts one semester on 40 students from Class 28,grade one of a high school in Gongzhuling city to explore the following specific research questions: 1.How does the integrated teaching model of reading and writing affect the interest of tenth graders in English writing? 2.How does the integrated teaching model of reading and writing affect the confidence of tenth graders in English writing? 3.How does the integrated teaching model of reading and writing affect tenth graders’ English writing ability?At every stage of the research,the author mainly collected the qualitative and quantitative research data through questionnaire survey,interview,writing test,classroom observation and other analytical ways such as analyzing how well students complete each writing task during the class,and the author analyzed the data by using SPSS 22.0 software.Through analyzing the data before and after the study,this action research mainly draws the following conclusions: firstly,the integrated teaching model of reading and writing can effectively stimulate students’ enthusiasm in English writing and improve their interest in English writing;secondly,the integrated teaching model of reading and writing can enhance students’ confidence in English writing and make them more independent in the process of writing;finally,the integrated teaching mode of reading and writing can help students gradually solve their own writing problems in content,structure,language and other aspects,so as to effectively improve their English writing ability. |
