| Under the background of signing the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership(RCEP)Agreement, the "ASEAN-China(Shandong)SME Conference for Cooperation and Development" was held in Jinan,Shandong Province,in May 2021.The conference aims to further promote the exchanges and cooperation between China(Shandong)and ASEAN countries through a series of activities so as to enhance the mutual development of small and medium-sized enterprises on both sides.Due to the impact of COVID-19,the conference was held both online and offline. The interpreter participated in one of the online business meetings of the conference,This report is based on this interpretation practice. The traditional theories of interpretation require interpreters to remain "invisible" and"neutral",simply playing the role of "transmitters".However, with the continuously diversified interpretation activities in forms and contents, researchers have gradually found that interpreters can play a role in promoting communication if they can timely exert their subjective initiative in the interpretating practice. On this basis, the Interpreter’s Subjectivity further discusses the visibility consciousness, empowerment consciousness and non-neutral stance of interpreters, believing that in addition to completing the interpreting tasks, interpreters should also actively participate in interpreting activities according to different task types, scenes, and requirements. This report explores the Interpreter’s Subjectivity in business interpreting with a detailed analysis of interpretation practice. While interpreting, the interpreter adapted to different communicative environments, overcame the difficulties and challenges thus encountered, and promoted the progress of the online meeting by giving play to his visibility consciousness, empowerment consciousness and non-neutral stance. The findings of this report can provide some guidance and suggestions for interpreters as to how to actively exert their subjectivity in future interpreting tasks. |
