In the present world featured with incredibly frequent cross-cultural exchanges, liaison interpreting has turned to be more important because of the enhancement of our domestic economies and opening-up.Therefore,the role of interpreter has been much discussed by scholars in interpreting studies.Under the guidance of “Interpreter’s Subjectivity Consciousness”,this report aims at analyzing the role of liaison interpreter and the reflection of interpreter’s role in liaison interpreting with author’s personal practices.By means of causal analysis, the author has summarized the reason of the failure in interpreting--simply serving as a “language converter” to interpret what the speaker said to the listener without taking a full consideration of the speaker’s intention.Accordingly,it has induced two questions – what the role of liaison interpreter is and how his/her role is reflected in practice. To answer the questions, the author turned to Interpreter’s Subjectivity Consciousness, which stresses three kinds of consciousness the interpreter should establish: visibility consciousness, empowerment consciousness, and non-neutrality consciousness. In other words,an interpreter should adopt visible figure, power figure, and non-neutral figure in liaison interpreting. Thus, the author has concluded that the liaison interpreter is not only an active participant in communication but an authoritative coordinator of the entire communicative event. Finally, based on his later personal practices, the author has verified the application of the guiding strategies of Interpreter’s Subjectivity Consciousness, and it has proved to be effective in improving the communicative effect.
