Analysis Of Guo Xi’s Landscape Painting Creation Thought And Artistic Style Through Lin Quan Gao Zhi

Guo Xi was a famous court landscape painter and painting theorist in the period of Shen Zong and Zhe Zong of Song Dynasty.His brushwork had a significant effect upon the trend history of Chinese landscape painting and was widely practiced and imitated by posterity.Guo Xi’s techniques,experiences and artistic views of landscape creation were mainly reflected in Lin Quan Gao Zhi.This book is helpful for modern painters to learn landscape theory and painting.This thesis intends to combine the analysis of works with the appreciation of works.Author intend to start from reading Lin Quan Gao.Zhi skillfully,appreciating Guo Xi’s landscape painting and summarizing his views to comment on his important position in the history of Chinese landscape painting and painting theory.The thesis consists of three chapters.The first chapter is a brief introduction of Guo Xi and Lin Quan Gao Zhi.This paper mainly introduces Guo Xi’s experience and the main stages of his artistic activities.Guo Xi’s learning from the predecessors and experience in the palace art academies are helpful for the improvement of his painting skills.And combined with the development background of landscape painting,talk about Guo Xi’s theoretical achievements.The second chapter is Guo Xi’s landscape painting artistic thoughts from the aspects of creative purpose,creative attitude and creative method in Lin Quan Gao Zhi.First of all,"To Travel and to Live" is for far away in the court of the emperor and court officials,"Without leaving the imperial palace,still have mountains and rivers",to achieve the "The Heart of Living in Seclusion"original intention of creation.Secondly,it discusses the attitude of creation from three perspectives:"Peaceful and Pleasant Creation","Concentration in Creation","Extensive Learning and Reference",that is,relax and happy,concentrate on oneself and learn from others’ strengths.The third chapter starts from the Lin Quan Gao Zhi,to analyze the style characteristics of Guo Xi’s landscape painting creation.The representative works are selected for comparative analysis.From the composition and modeling,brush and ink techniques and other aspects of the "Early Spring" to analyze the close,medium and distant landscape and character dynamics,further confirm the painting views in Lin Quan Gao Zhi.The fourth chapter is Guo Xi’s influence on later generations.Finally,a brief talk on the study of Lin Quan Gao Zhi thought of personal perception.
