Yan Lianke put forward the creation concept of "Spiritual realism".He advocated that literary creation should abandon the superficial logic of real life, adopt non-realistic methods, and pursue a deeper "inner truth".The proposal of the theoretical proposition of "Spiritual realism" is a bold attempt by Yan Lianke to explore a new path of Chinese contemporary realism literary creation on the basis of summarizing his own creative practice and life experience. His literary creation practice under the guidance of this theoretical proposition has achieved many innovative results, but has also been controversial and criticized. This article explores and discusses Yan Lianke’s "Spiritual realism" and his creative practice from three levels. The first chapter sorts out the theoretical connotation and origin of Yan Lianke’s "Spiritual realism".While analyzing and discussing Yan Lianke’s view of reality and causality, combined with relevant literary theories such as realism, modernism and magic realism, discuss the inheritance and breakthrough of "theistic realism" to existing theories in terms of expression content, aesthetic tendencies and creative techniques. The second chapter analyzes the innovation of Yan Lianke’s "Spiritual realism" in combination with specific texts.Yan Lianke regards style as a part of the content, and he actively innovates in combination with the specific content of the text.In terms of narrative,Yan Lianke introduced the undead narrative and dream narrative into the text,so that it achieved the artistic effect of being both true and illusory, true and false. In addition,Yan Lianke uses dialect and revolutionary discourse flexibly and skillfully to participate in the narrative, making it part of the content. The third chapter analyzes the limitations of Yan Lianke’s "Spiritual realism" creation. The extreme writing advocated by Yan Lianke and his blind pursuit of "internal truth" and "internal cause and effect",when reflected in the works, affect the richness, depth and authenticity of the works to some extent. From the perspective of narratology and reception aesthetics, the limitations of Yan Lianke’s "Spiritual realism" works are embodied in the following: the singularity of creative themes, the typification of characters, the fixation of narrative structure, and the use of "reliable" narrators to tell the "Unreliable" stories, etc. It also brings difficulties and challenges to the reader’s reading, but fails to achieve the expected effect.Yan Lianke’s creative proposition and creative practice of "Spiritual realism" broke the shackles of traditional realism in contemporary Chinese literary circles to a certain extent, but it also has limitations. In any case, its artistic value and aesthetic value are worthy of attention and affirmation, which has important implications for the innovation and development of Chinese contemporary literature. |
